So a while back, someone posted a Japanese cosplay picture from
Lynn Flewelling's "Nightrunner" novel series. I think there might have been a non-Asian cosplay picture as well.
Anyway. I was totally like "DO WANT" because the Nightrunner series is one of my favorite fantasy novel series of all time. But I wondered to myself, where did these cosplayers get references for their costumes? I mean, the English novels sure don't give you a clear picture of what Alec and Seregil look like.
And then I was browsing through my FList today and found a new entry by this person who buys brand new yaoi/shounen-ai stuff every so often and takes pictures of it to show people what's coming out. So I was scrolling through the pictures she had, when at the very end... there it was.
The Japanese-Translated Nightrunner novel series.
It appears that all volumes have been translated and published, complete with illustrations.
Here is one of the Japanese volumes that has a cover with three of the main characters on it. The one on the top if Alec, the middle Seregil, and the bottom is Micum.
DO SO FUCKING WANT.
Although the art is a bit too pretty, lol. It's so weird to see Seregil so... feminine. And Alec is a bit too pretty too, since I saw him more as like, the energetic shounen type.
Anyway. Now I need to go find my English copies of the novels and reread the series. And try to find the Japanese novels so I can look at the art and see how they illustrated some of the scenes.
Edit: OH GOD LYNN FLEWELLING IS COMING OUT WITH THE
FOUTH, NEW VOLUME OF NIGHTRUNNER THIS SUMMER! FUCK YES!
It's been so long.... and honestly, I thought the series was finished. But fuck if I'm complaining.
