summer anime and j-dramas

Went to Jeff's birthday party yesterday. It was mostly bowling, video games, and pizza. It was pretty fun overall. I enjoyed being able to torture and abuse Jeff again. <3 I also found out that I suck at Super Smash Brothers Melee and first-person shooter games. xD Then again, I've never played the Gamecube or the Xbox, so I have excuses. It was fun watching everyone else play SSBM, though. I love Jigglypuff. xD

I've been watching some new Summer 2007 anime and j-dramas. So far, I've watched the animes "Zombie-Loan" and "Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei", and I've also watched the j-dramas "Papa to Musume no Nanokakan" and "Yamada Tarou Monogatari".

So far, I think I'm going to follow ZL, PapaMusu, and Yamada. Zetsubou was kind of weird and I didn't really get it. I might try another episode or two, but I don't have high hopes for it. Maybe I'll get the manga more.

For Zombie-Loan, the lead girl's voice kind of annoys me, but I liked the manga, so I'm looking forward to more of the anime. Finished episode 1 and 2 of this one, which was basically volume 1 of the manga (which is the one I've read). I know a lot of people voiced that they didn't like the main girl because she's spineless, etc, etc, but I would recommend at least watching until the end of episode 2 before declaring what kind of character she is.

For Papa to Musume no Nanokakan, the daughter makes me roll my eyes a lot, but then again, she's a high school student with a super big crush on a soccer dude. Shige's kind of weird in this, probably because I'm used to thinking of him as the studious type rather than the athletic type. And his new hair isn't my thing. But what makes this show is the dad. Oh, the dad. More specifically, the guy who plays the dad and then has to play the daughter in the body of the dad. I could not stop laughing at the middle-aged man acting like a high school girl. He does it SO well. He's more or less my reason for watching the show.

For Yamada Tarou Monogatari, once you get over some corny and manga-ish things in the show, it's a pretty damn funny show. It's touching, too. I'm not ashamed to say I cried at the end of episode 1. But I laughed a lot during this show. I especially laughed at that man at the construction site who totally fell in love with Yamada or something. xD The lead girl is hilarious too, because she lives in a very happy, very optimistic world. I love Nino's facial expressions as always, and Sakurai's character (Takuya) is amusing as he is stalking Yamada.

I'm really interested to see how the Yamada-Takuya friendship will turn out. *pokes downloads to go faster for episode 2.*

But yes. If you're looking for new summer dramas, I definitely recommend PapaMusu and Yamada. I've yet to watch HanaKimi, but I did rent it from the store, so we'll see how much I actually enjoy that.

And ZL is a good action but not quite shounen series with pretty art if you're into that kind of anime. :D
