playing mind games

Okay, there's one specific pet peeve of mine that really annoys me.

It's when people obviously want me to do something, but they don't say anything about it. So I'm left guessing what the hell it is that they want with frustration and a certain level of guilt for doing whatever it is that seems to annoy the other person.

Why do I bring this up now? My roommate.

Heidi and I were watching CSI: NY -- not because we particularly like it, but it was on and we'd just finished watching Criminal Minds. And so we were just sitting there, watching the show and talking when Steph starts fidgeting. And I notice that she's doing homework, but I figured she'd say something if something bothering her. But she doesn't. She just keeps fidgeting. So I ask her if she wants me to turn the volume down. She says yes and how she can't concentrate and she needs to pass math, so I turn it down.

She kind of keeps fidgeting, but I figured she'd say something if she wanted us to turn the TV off or something. But she doesn't. And now I feel guilty because I felt like I should have offered, but I wasn't sure, and I'm frustrated because I wish she would just say what was bothering her.

Seriously. If I'm doing something that bothers you, just come out and say it. Because it just gets on my nerve when you act like you want to say something but don't. Really.
