Dilema

Soooo remember that fabulous job that I landed, mentioned yesterday? Yeah, I'm in a bit of an awkward position right now. Here's the lowdown.

I talked to the Doc that I'm working for today and he said that unfortunately by contract I need to give him 30 days before I can leave. I TOTALLY forgot so right now the only thing I need to worry about is if BHPW will wait 30 days for me. Somehow I'm skeptical, because that would just be too easy if they wouldn't; for me anyway. So I left them a message this afternoon and haven't heard back.

Now, if they do wait for me, here's my problem. The main therapist that I work with is accepting a government job and will only be working Saturdays, so I will inherit ALL her clients, which is TEH AWESOME. Most of them aren't so attached to her to the point that they wont see me, so I have a greater chance of getting what I really want need: a regular paycheck. And that can sometimes (especially in my case)be a difficult thing to achieve straight out of the shoot.

So here are the pro's (+) and Cons (-) that I have so far:

North Star (where I'm at now)
+More clients
+Higher paycheck due to those clients
+/-Higher rate per client, however I only get 30% of funds received from the insurance companies (35% at full maturation); the Doc gets the other 65-70% for rent, reception fees, equipment usage, etc.
+Can bring in my own clients
+Love the people I work with, and the environment
+Less work hours (full time = 4 clients/day max (5 on occasion) = 5 hours total (15 min. in-between each client) = 25 hour work week)
+/-Paycheck completely dependent on the amount of clients I see
-No benefits
-I.C. (independently contracted)so must do my own taxes (but that's what accountants are for)

BHPW
+/- Paid hourly, regardless of how many clients I do/don't see, however less rate than at North Star
+Educated in other modalities (ultrasound, electro-stim., inferential, traction)
+Definite regular paycheck
+Benefits once full-time (somewhere around the spring semester)
+/- Only spot work required instead of full body, so there's the possibility of being worked to the bone
-40 hour work week.
-Have heard of two therapists that left due to the environment (which seemed just fine while I was there)

+ for both locations
Clientèle always picks up in the fall/winter/spring.

Now looking at just the +'s, North Star has the lead, but that regular paycheck and benefits are HEAVYWEIGHTS on BHPW's side, especially considering that the Doc pays for his employees premiums, so they just pay the copay.

My main focus right now is to GET OUT OF THE HOUSE. I want SO BADLY to be on my own, and that's impossible with the paychecks I'm getting right now.

So, what my current plan of attack looks like is to sit down with the therapist whose clients I will be inheriting and drill her about what her paychecks have been like, how steady her clientèle has been, how heavily she's had to rely on other jobs if any (that's something else therapists do to fill their time, additional jobs = more $$$ in the bank), what her therapist friends experienced that made them leave BHPW, and to see if I can really make a living out of my new career. It's totally possible. There are therapists out there that make 60K+ per year, but they're DEFINITELY getting more than 30% of funds received from the insurance companies, I'll tell you that much.

So, if BHPW calls and says that they wont wait, then my choice is an easy one. If they say they will wait, then I have some serious thinking to do. For those of you that pray, I'd appreciate it if you would keep me in your prayers. I'm really trying hard to trust God on this little jaunt and that's not an easy thing for me to do. I'm the control type, and I'm really not in control here. Well, I am, but I'm kinda trying not to be, as weird as that sounds.

Anyway, I'm going to go read for a while, then hit the sack.

Night.
