This week's book is Isobelle Carmody's The Sending, book six of the Obernewtyn Chronicles.
I enjoyed it, I was relieved by much of what happened. It was brilliant to read a new book with these characters. It included some back story for a recently introduced character. And much more information about the Land's history. It ends very excitingly and I am hanging out for the next one. OMG cliffhanger!
I am now reading The Hobbit. I have feelings about the adaptation, of course, but the most amusing thing is Gollum having taught his grandmother to suck eggs! There, in the text! It is the memory that lets him get the riddle answer, "eggs".
I am currently house sitting for a colleague of my mum's. So I am in Brighton with a big tough cat, a tiny fluffy white dog and a cockatiel. I've just gotten over a nasty headache.
I had to go and buy painkillers when I felt that the headache was not going away. Then it was awful for about an hour and a half. I took four painkillers instead of two because I threw up in between and figured that if I had no problem taking two panadol every four hours for ten days with no problems, the risk was worth. I also did make the room as dark and quiet as possible. Then fell asleep. Got up and managed to eat some food. Phew. It's one of the awful moments of being sick when it's kind of panicking. I've definitely felt worse - I had food poisoning once - but I've dealt with this before and I didn't know what it was of I would get better doing what I was doing. Now I feel fragile, and tense like I've got a fever, but I feel like I'll be fine. Especially as I am now familiar with the noises of the house.
Hugh Jackman won a Golden Globe award. It's kind of hillarious listening to news people pronounce Les Miserables, because no one I know calls it anything but Les Mis.
