I really dislike the fact that the entire internet is becoming a homogenous blob of crossposting. Finding out that Livejournal has, as I like to call it, "pulled a DeviantArt" and made it possible to link entries to Facebook and Twitter makes me rather angry.
I would like to state here that I hate Facebook with a blazing passion, and that I would have deleted mine long ago were it not the easiest way to keep touch with my bazillion friends from college.
My life on the internet is nicely partitioned, and that's how I like it to be.
I have my modeling on DeviantArt, my fics and personal journal here, my random snarky ramblings on Twitter, and my connection to my college friends on Facebook. I've kept these parts of my online identity secret for a good reason, and I tend to react rather aggressively when these sites try to blend them together.
When DeviantArt slapped share-link buttons to Facebook, Twitter, and every other site known to man on every piece of work submitted there, I deleted my entire gallery because I couldn't take the risk of my work being made public on Facebook, where my college peers, professors, prospective employers, and people I know from back home would have access to them. I didn't repost my gallery until many months later, when DA decided to pull their heads out of their collective asses and add a "disable" feature for the buttons.
Fortunately, some of you lovely people have figured out ways to get around these, which makes me happy.
I would like to state for the record here that I don't mind having my fics crosslinked to Twitter. However, I do not, under any circumstances, want any of my work crosslinked to Facebook
I'm not going to delete or friend-lock any of my fandom entries, so please respect my wishes on this matter.
