...but the rest of us tend to call this new strain "Enemy Draw" materia. The initial benefits in relation to our SeeD work are obvious. If we can draw monsters away from settled areas by using this materia, we can create ideal combat situations for ourselves. Imagine if you will drawing a Marlboro into a battle when you not only have Cures already prepared, but also immunities already in place. Survival rates of SeeD cadets will increase by an estimated 67%. Also, battles for training would take less time to get to, decreasing the amount of time needed to send cadets out to training.
After considerable analysis from both Instructor Xiquo and myself, it is becoming more apparent that the monsters in the area around the Garden have begun to mutate and are drawn to this new form of materia. For some reason, they seem to be drawn to the test subject wearing the materia, though we have not been able to conclude yet the reason. Also, the draw is not great enough to be the only reason why our people have been disappearing. The Instructor has suggested another test, perhaps at Trabia.
Further, work has begun on an exact opposite of this materia, one that will encourage monsters to stay away from the bearer of said materia. Repel as opposed to attract.
