Precautions were not something that the old man approved of. They just him that same dull, vaguely dissapproving stare that had become part of his life. On the other hand, as he was prone to remarking loudly every time he installed a new one, they kept him alive.

The Nexus made things easy for him -- PINpoint installed in the suit returned a neutral hub in the Nexus and sent out a distress signal if he or his gear sustained too much damage. That detail alone had been enough for him to forgive his first three LOL's. So, he'd had to spend three weeks wondering what exactly the old man had thought of his loud profession of his femininity after one particularly nasty incident. This was totally worth it.

"Excuse me, geezer, but did they happen to change the definition of 'a couple' in the past hundred years?" Thirty. No -- thirty three, there was backup that thought it was being clever.

"Gentleman." Sixty six eyes snapped to look him; determined, fearful, taken aback, but not surprised.

Schway. It's a trap.

Bang. The bullet whizzed past his shoulder, ripping the costume clean open all along the sleeve.

Sixty eight. He'd missed one. These guys were good. All the more reason they needed to go now.

Nexus.

Nexus? "Damn!" It'd be broadcasting already, he didn't need to bother calling for help, but he didn't need to be here now, he needed to be taking care of business back home!
