we're almost into our third week of being away from home.
some days it feels like less, some days it feels like more.
the day of the move was rough.
the air force supplied us with these really great movers who thought it would be a good idea to not only not let anyone know that they would be about five hours late,
but to also bunch my wedding dress up into a ball with some paper,
which i almost threw out when we were unpacking.
saying goodbye to my mom was really hard.
we both cried a lot and said i love you a million times,
but once we drove away, the tears stopped and since then,
i've been numb about it.
i just don't let myself think about how she's ten hours away.
oddie, bear, and simba all had to fit onto the backseat for our journey. my poor babies.
they were so good about it though.
we spent the night in ocala and then headed to gainsville to see marie at uf.
we met her at the parking lot of her dorm and talked to her for two minutes from the car.
it took us about five more hours to get to crestview.
we spent two nights at the jameseon inn,
which i just so happened to discover has a haunted room!!
i didn't get to see it though :[
we spent the next week in a room on the base.
eglin is huge. way bigger than lackland or macdill.
there's miles of trees and a lake and an area for horses.
we had ten days to find a place and it was actually really hard for us to decide where we should live.
i wanted destin, because it's exactly like cape coral and the beach is right there.
but to get to eglin, eric would have to take the huge four mile bridge twice a day,
so that was out.
the georaphy here is so weird because not too far from the beach is a ton of forrest and hills.
we've seen a lot of deer on the grass next to the highway at night,
which makes me scared for them and us.
anyway, we ended up in fort walton beach.
we have a townhouse with one bedroom and one bath,
and all of the cabinets and fixtures in the house are brand new.
we have a little fenced in yard, but we have to get grass for it because the whole thing is cobblestone?
it's a really cute place, but it wasn't eric's best idea to get us a house with stairs.
it's not easy for me to get up and down them and bear can't climb them at all,
so he's stuck downstairs :[
i hate not having him sleep in the room with us.
i miss my liddle guy.
we live in the middle of everything it seems.
we're on the same street as a middle school, which is about thirty steps away.
to the right is the town, with all of the same stores that del prado has.
there's a million thai places here which i was super excited about,
but so far they've all been really dissapointing.
to the left, like two streets down, is the high school,
and two more streets after that is the water.
eric just started work and was assigned to be the head of the rabies department.
he's usually home by five and has been making us dinners everynight on the grill,
which he finally learned how to use.
next month, i'm going to set up my scholarship for school again.
northwest florida state college is like fifteen minutes away.
i'm hoping i can start in january.
tomorrow, we're going to pensacola to have dinner with our old journalism teacher.
he went to northwest, so i'm excited to ask him about it.
andddd, that's it really.
we still need to get a few things for the house and get settled,
but i'm really happy that we're finally on our own.
we have each other and our three boys, and i love it.
things would be even better if we had a baby dettah on the way.
hopefully soon ;D
