"Exactly what are you doing?" a familiar voice trilled. The owner of the voice was emerging from the elevators of the hotel, her eye having caught the gleam of the jewelry even from a couple dozen yards away. "Planning on pawning that, hmm?"
Alice propped a hip against the back of the couch, a dark brow lifting slightly in disbelief. "So let me get this straight: you want to spend the rest of your life on a deserted island full of money that you can't really use anyway because you'll be the only person there."
Kel had been taking a nap before she wandered down into the lobby of the Blackstone to find it empty. Wanting company, she headed over the the Hard Rock in the hopes of finding somebody to chat or play cards with.
There was a man she didn't recognize, sorting through far too much jewelry. Kel wasn't sure if Queen Thayet had half as much. What she was sure of was the glimmer in his eye, easy to recognize thanks to her experience with men: greed. Still, he looked interesting enough, and she was bored.
Coming up alongside him, she spoke. "Nice collection. I'm Kel. Would you like help sorting some of this?"
Kel considered his offer. She did like to get her midwinter gifts early, but wondered whether they would transfer between realms. Still, it couldn't hurt to try. "Thank you, that's very kind. I don't know when I'll have another chance to get midwinter gifts for everybody back home, especially as things are now."
She paused as her brain caught up with her, and raised an eyebrow before sitting down. "Bribing palace guards, hmm? Do tell."
