"I wasn't suggesting a fake person being thralled, but that a fake person isn't as fake," Clare figured there wasn't there for fake people, but if someone played right they could pass as one around ordinary humans and some of the supernatural crowd. "I keep track of whose still listed as active. I have no idea if putting a phone in a circle makes us appear gone to the network or not. I don't ask Bob about it because... he's Bob."
"The storms are magic, and its obviously magic, so it could be reacting to that... or something else has it reacting," Clare frowned at it, "its supposed to let us have the sangraal when we're ready. It could also be that... wait, did Dean just say something.
"What was that?" She could have sworn he said 'mine,' did he have a similar pendant?

He folded his hands under his chin. "The weather could be Fae related? It could make sense, then, that the key is reacting to whichever is in ascendancy." It was a bit of a stretch, maybe, but not much of one.
Glancing over at Dean, though, he snorted. "I'm not entirely certain your amulet was made for an epic game of 'hot or cold'." He...just needed to remember exactly what it was for, that's all.

He then said, with a brief glance of regret to Sam, "I used to have an amulet. Cas told me it would burn hot in God's presence. But he was hiding too much for it ever to work."

"Maybe..." Clare thought about it, but some things didn't add up, "When we went into Undertown it was because of the weather. Violent shifts between Summer and Winter. This rain... It's different." There was also the fact that she didn't think the sangraal's magic would react to the fae. It was God's treasure, if it reacted it should be to something holier.
Then Dean mentioned his amulet, "It... maybe that's it!" Clare considered if that could be just that. The Grail is a holy artifact, a key for such an artifact would be equally attuned. The grail had as much purpose being attuned to Fae as it did members of the Roman Pantheon. "Have we had any incidents during the past few weeks that could be, well, miracles?"
However as Clare considered that, two things came to mind. 1. It never grew hot. 2. Ice cold is the opposite of hot, did that mean the opposite of God? That put a chill through her spine.

The fact that the rain WASN'T the cause of warring Fae, now, made Sam's frown deepen. "Okay. So...maybe it's being caused by whatever's in that box you guys found." Glancing at Dean because that's where he heard of the box from.

"I'm with you on that," Clare didn't like the thought that the pendant was reacting to a complete opposite of God being present in town. But given the stories about the skinwalker, there were a few things that would qualify as causing such a reaction.
"Well..." Clare considered, "Unless someone was told to build an arc, you're right about the weather. But there has to be something to separate now and before. Something that shifted last night." Of course, it would be infinitely better if this was wrong. That the token was reacting to something else. Because if it was telling them how close they were to getting the grail, or if God was not around... bad news. "Wait, what happened when you found the box?"

He wiped a hand over his face before saying, "Ran into some fallen angels, demons, take your pick. They tried to attack us. Banishing sigil didn't do much and exorcism ritual knocked the demonic bitch there back a little. There was then some kind of cloud and lightning that showed up and stopped them. Weirdest thing, man."

Clare would have figured that Chicago when they arrived was pretty apocalyptic. Now that seemed like a childish fear, because Dean was right this did look pretty bad. Made worse by an artifact that was of holy design giving a certain negative reaction.
"Well, a few people here can summon lightning..." Jason came to mind instantly, but she didn't know if he was there. "But if nobody there took credit, that would be a very textbook definition of divine intervention. I know a few people I can ask about how divine beings interact here." She was hoping that Dean would rule out divine influence. The idea that a Demonic entity at a power to turn the token cold was terrifying.
A fact that showed as several surfaces in the room covered in frost. "What do we do? They want us to get the Grail, but I'm not even sure if that's the right plan. If the end of the world is on the table too, I don't know if its because we're close to getting the Grail, or the Grail is too far out of reach."

Sam leaned back, frowning slightly. "Well. If nothing else, we do have a cause and effect thing going on here," he noted. "We've already spoken to Galahad, who knew us all. Remember, he called us by name even when we hadn't introduced ourselves to him or the other knights. And Galahad is here in Chicago. Which means we must get out of this all right."

"He knew you guys, that doesn't mean it's all green for the rest of us," he pointed out, and added, "And I think it's more than just the Grail, least going by that map. Grail's only part of what we need."

Clare is going to just ignore Dean, because if she acknowledges the comment she'd agree with it and that wouldn't be of any help. She wasn't sure what the demonic aspect of vampires was, they were supernatural but the word demon got thrown around at just about everything. They weren't Fae and they weren't Fallen. She figured that vampires were a completely separate class from demons just... why, she had no clue.
"The grail is the last part of what they need." Clare corrected, "Linkara and a handful of others found nine items in the Cultural Center. The map has ten points." Which is why Clare felt gaining the Grail might not be the best path, that they were deciding if they were playing for the right team. A choice they had no idea about.
"Also we might not be alright, many different theories about temporal mechanics. We could have been alright in a parallel reality where he met us, but just as easily this time we changed things. Things don't go the same way," Clare didn't want to draw out the arguments on if they would be alright because they were alright. There was no proof, equally there was no proof he knew them because he met them. There were also prophecies to consider, who was to say Galahad didn't know them by name because of another method of explanation. "Let's stick to what we know for now... I've had enough worrying about possible future events."
She quickly shut thoughts of a boy driving a hearse out of her mind.

Now, were it Lara...
"Assuming, of course, that those items are nine of what they need and not a completely different set all together." Sam frowned. "But, that's needlessly complicated. Ocram's razor at work. Simplest explanation is probably what's happening." Which meant that the Grail was the tenth that they needed. And that the temporal mechanics thing was a bit overmuch, too.
Still, Sam stared at the Grail key for a moment, mind caught on the idea of future events. "At least you know you have one," he muttered before leaning forward again, eyes on the Grail and not on either of the other two with him.

"It probably relates to the words on that map too remember?"
Off Sam's last comment though, he gave a concerned glance to his brother. One way or another, he won't let him go back. Not again. He saved the world but he wasn't staying in that goddamned Pit.

Well, if Clare wasn't already thinking they were siblings that definitely sold the idea. The two fought much like she did with Darcy, only about demons. She crossed her arms and gave her best 'school teacher' glare. "Are you two finished?"
"Either of you have the translation of the map," Clare had lost hers. Which is a lie she knew where the page was. It shattered when she was learning her new ice powers. The issue with the theory of simplest plan is that nothing here was simple. She couldn't rule out Sam's issue, but it was a hard position to work from. "If we can figure out what the ten items and ten words have in common we might have some idea how the grail fits in."
She glanced between the two ass the topic of futures came up. She stepped in it, she wasn't sure how but she did. There had to be a gap between the two, temporally speaking. Dean probably was from future events in Sam's timeline given the comment and the looks. She focused her eyes on the token, "Let's stay focused, it'd be nice to know something about this place for once. Instead of being lead around by the nose."
