Joan had a mocha with a few cookies to munch as she flipped through the pages of a book. It was a book on Illinois law. She got a mental note this morning that she still had college to get back to. Hopefully, eventually? Her left fingers occasionally brushed over the bracelet on her right wrist with the artful swirls resembling tongues of flame. It had done something to protect her before in those tunnels. But she still was trying to figure how it worked.
