And I really got hot when I saw Janet Scott Fight a Triffid that spits poison and kills )
"I wasn't saying not to fight it, just... let's not get in the water with a squidshark," this was common sense, do not fight sharks, squids, or Michael Phelps in the water. Double if it is some mix of any two of the three, or Michael Phelps as a mutant fish guy.
...which he could totally be and explain all his medals!
"Let's try to lead it away from the water and then make it really hurt," Knives liked plans, but she also liked simple. This was simple, and a plan, it should totally work! Knives watched the tentacles move around on the floor around the pool, let's not attack it until its totally out of the water...

[The creature grabs for something else to pull itself up, a tentacle landing on a steel lounger. It recoils back at the touch of steel and the tentacle flails upward, hitting one of the overhead lights. The light might be dark, but it still sends out a shower of sparks at the impact. Guess there's still electricity running through it]

"Are sharks allergic to metal or something? Maybe its only the squid part that's allergic," Knives asked, shooting a confused look to Shard before putting her eyes back on the monster and its weird reaction to metal. On the one hand waiting was a good plan, and diving into the water was a dumb plan.
But waiting was really boring.
And he was laughing right now about something she said, why the hell was he laughing? What was so funny about the squidshark being allergic to metal? What is it you know?
All the Knives's imaginary friend offered in response was more laughter.

"I'm surprised, actually. I thought magic didn't work so well in water." Shard looked up, noting the sparks. "It's not a shark-squid thing. It's one of those faerie...whatever they are." She pointed at the lounger. "Steel. It burns them."
She looked up again. "There's still electricity flowing. So whatever's causing the lights out isn't that. We can use it, though. As long as it stays in the water."
First, though, she needed an electricity line...

[Avoiding the lounge chairs, the creature begins pulling itself up again, this time moving quicker. A few tentacles reach for Shard and Knives]

Knives grinned, "Steel is super effective?" She liked where this is going. It meant she could solve this in a really easy way. Even easier than trying to electrocute the fish. Which was good because water was everywhere so maybe using electricity would be bad. Knives pulled her blades and moved forward.
Also the electricity thing would be less effective as it was trying to pull itself out again. Maybe if it was out of tentacles it would be easier to deal with. That settles it, Knives had a plan now. Any tentacle that got within slashing range would be hers. Starting with the ones heading her way right now.

On the other hand, Knives was getting way too close to the pool.
On the third hand, the pool chairs seemed to annoy it, at least.
Shard started moving, staying low and using her powers to shove the pool chairs into the pool. "Keep it distracted," she shouted to the girl. "Be careful not to get pulled in. And when I say run, you run for it."
