Warnings: Oh, this will get violent.
This, Linkara knew, was an incredibly bad idea. Last time he'd faced Mechakara, he'd been at full strength himself, and he'd had the support of Harvey Finevoice, Nineties Kid, and Ninja-Style Dancer with an arsenal between them, and even then it had taken a software override from Pollo to stop Mechakara long enough for Linkara to take him down.
Today, he was tired from lack of sleep and nightmares and what might be the last bits of Skavis in his mind making him jump at every shadow, he had only his magic gun and his morpher, and he was alone.
Yeah, this was really stupid.
To be honest, he would've given anything for backup right now - Vin on his left, Terra on his right, and Jenn and She-Hulk behind him, just to be sure. The problem was, he hadn't asked any of them for their help - in fact, he'd actively kept Vin away. She'd been hurt by Shagnasty, and kidnapped along with him, and hurt again by something none of them could identify. Terra had come out the worse for his encounter with the creature and, from what Linkara could tell, had only just dealt with the emotional turmoil of his master arriving again out of the blue. Jenn's dealings with Shagnasty had left her all but unable to function, and while she'd recovered, he could tell she still wasn't at one hundred percent just yet.
His friends had all been hurt, and badly, by forces he didn't know about or couldn't control or hadn't been there to protect them from. Like hell did he want any of them hurt again by a problem from his world - something he thought he'd scrapped months ago.
And who else could he ask? He got the feeling that Eraqus still didn't entirely trust him. Murphy was competent, but he wasn't about to ask her to fight a killer robot, even though he was sure she'd agree. Aqua...well, someone had to make sure Terra didn't do anything stupid.
Franky...had been missing for weeks. He'd probably gone home with the rest of the insane paw print crew. Man, what Linkara wouldn't give to have the giant pantsless cyborg watching his back right now.
But as it was, he was doing exactly what he'd told Vin not to do and walking into a trap alone. He knew where in the city Mechakara was, at least in a general sense. Of course, that was exactly where he was headed.
At least it was already raining. That way, things couldn't get even worse.
