Minako entered the room cautiously, holding the wire venetian mask to her face as she surveyed the party. She didn't really recognize anyone, but perhaps that was the whole reason as far as Masquerades go.

She managed to find a beautiful replica of Guinevere's dress from a painting she had always admired... And what better time to showcase it than a New Year's party? She helped herself to something to drink before mulling around the room, eager to find a familiar face.

Terra being, well, Terra, had shown up wearing his usual clothes. He didn't understand the need to wear costumes and thought that just a mask would work. He looked around when he got there and realized he might have made a small error in judgement. He almost forgot to put his mask on until one of the party goers tapped him on his shoulder and explained that the whole point of the masquerade was to keep your mask on at all times. With a sigh, Terra brought the gold and red mask up to his face. It was a simple half mask so at least his mouth and nose were exposed and wouldn't impeded on any eating or drinking.

Speaking of which, he HAD walked here without anything to eat, perhaps it was time to stop by the snack bar. Terra passed a woman whose presence was familiar but with the mask on he couldn't tell who it was. So he politely helped himself to some punch instead.

Minako was quickly finding that it was difficult to pour punch and hold a mask at the same time. She made a face, trying to remember why she'd picked the mask on a stick as opposed to one that tied.

Finally managing to pour her punch, she took a slow sip of it and turned to leave... Until Terra showed up. Minako only knew it was him because his outfit hadn't changed. She smiled slightly and tilted her head at him. "Hey! Couldn't find a costume?"

Terra hadn't been expecting anyway to approach him and he nearly dropped the cup of punch he was filling. "Huh?" He turned his head and found the girl who was familiar and realized as she spoke who it was. "Minako," he paused and looked down at his outfit, "I didn't realize it would be a requirment to attend. I suppose I thought just wearing a mask would suffice."

Minako lifted her mask a little as he said her name and pressed her finger to her lips as though it was some big secret. Replacing the mask over her eyes, she shrugged her shoulders. "It's not a big deal... But it does give away who you are a little easier, Terra..."

He blinked and then nodded solemnly as if he actually understood this secret, though it was probably just another instance of Terra taking everything too seriously again. "I guess I just wasn't that concerned about hiding my identity...but I didn't want to completely break with tradition either," he said, offering her a small smile. "You look nice though."

Alice had been making her way around the room, deathly bored by the number of conversations that were taking place amongst the non-people. Having lived through the entire 20th century, some things were obviously just old news.

She was about to call the night a bust when she caught sight of a familiar lanky figure standing over by the snack bar. She also realized he wasn't wearing a costume.

Well that simply wouldn't do.

She moved towards the duo, a bright smile crossing her pixie-like features. "Terra~ Where is your costume?"

"Well... You got part of it down at least," Minako mused. "I like the mask, it looks good..."

She flashed him a big grin. "Really? Thanks."

She couldn't get anything else in, however, as another girl walked forward with a smile. Minako laughed at the girl's comment. "He didn't know he was supposed to dress up," she supplied as an answer.

Terra nodded. After everything he had been through lately, it was nice to see someone smiling at him for a change. He was about to take another drink from his punch when another girl joined them. It was the woman who had hosted the masquerade and had wanted to decorate for Christmas...her name was Alice if he remembered right. He sighed, looking down at his clothes again, "I did not think it would be that much of a concern. I thought the mask would be enough."

He looked back at Alice, "It's a little late now, isn't it?"

Alice planted her hands on her hips, glancing from Minako to Terra with a calculating look in her eyes.

"Yes, well...I suppose you have the whole samurai look going for you," she said, standing back and giving him a critical sweep. "But I think you would look absolutely perfect in a tux." She glanced down at the watch on her wrist - still two hours before the New Year...hmmm...

Minako's lips quirked slightly at Alice's comment. "You know, I think he would. You wouldn't happen to have one laying around, would you?" she asked, laughing.

"A tux?" Terra looked a little taken aback by this sudden attention from his two female companions. He wasn't used to this sort of thing, especially growing up the way he had. He looked between the two, "I appreciate the compliment but I really do not want to detract from your time at the party just to find me a last minute outfit."

"I'm sure I could find one," Alice said cheerfully, still looking at Terra as if she were taking his measurements with her mind - which undoubtedly she was. "Too late to get anything tailored, but that's okay I suppose..."

She giggled at Terra's comment. "Detract? Oh no. I love dressing people up~"

Minako looked extremely amused as Alice continued talking. "I still think a tux would look charming. Even if it isn't tailored..."

She smiled over at Terra. "Not detracting from my time at all... I don't mind~"

Terra wondered if there was any possible way to get out of this. He wasn't around girls very often, well, okay, Aqua but sometimes he forgot to think of her as a girl since they'd grown up together. She'd probably smack him for a thought like that or at least glare at him.

So, he wasn't really sure what to do or say to get himself out of this situation. "Well, I guess if you both insist..."

Alice clapped her hands together, amber eyes twinkling in delight. "Fantastic!"

And then she grabbed Terra by the arm and, proving that she was a lot stronger than her tiny ballerina-esque frame suggested, began pulling him towards the door.
