Well, she looked to be Clare's age, maybe a little older. Definitely would get more attention, "Yes, I was doing tests. I mentioned them earlier on the networks. The radio signals meant to control it are less than trustworthy it seems." Clare was considering giving an in-depth look to the toys she had, might lead to more results.

"I'm Clare," most of the people here were far older than she was, which was a bit intimidating. Clare found it nice to see someone about her age, felt less lonely this way.

"Oh, hi, Clare! I'm Winry." She shifted the toy to her left hand to offer a firm handshake. "We talked the other day."

Winry pursed her mouth slightly. "Is there a radio station here? I mean, I haven't really seen a radio to turn one on, but maybe..." Radio waves weren't something she dealt with a lot. Electric currents, hydraulics, wiring, blacksmithing...still, she wondered if all radio waves were effected?

"Oh, you're the one who is good at mechanical repair?" Clare was already sure, but... well, it never hurts to double-check. Clare returned the handshake, she didn't put a lot of grip into it.

Clare hadn't checked for specific Radio Towers for this. She was keeping the test small scale. However that was a thought, "There should be a few... Chicago is a large population center. That is something else to test. And there's a radio in every room of the hotel." At least, there should be one, she saw it listed but never saw need to use it. Which was a rather limited view given what she was working on. This was like losing her glasses simply due to wearing them.

Clare held out a hand, nodding toward the car. Which, due to the signal screwing up still had its wheels spinning. She might as well turn it off, at least for now.

Winry handed Clare back the car, thinking her comment about 'mechanical repair' wasn't an insult; Clare didn't know anything about automail, after all. "Mm!"

Personally, she hadn't noticed a radio, but that didn't mean anything. There were quite a few things in the suite she and the Elric brothers were sharing that were completely incomprehensible to Winry. "Well, I was going to take a walk." She shrugged. "I could check for any close radio towers." She remembered how Central City's towers had been incorporated into the architecture and, what little bit of Chicago she'd seen reminded her of Cental, though far more elaborate.

"Can I come along? There are some things I need to get," She asked, leaving the 'if you don't mind me' she wanted to add unsaid. Winry being a mechanic made Clare a bit envious, but mostly intimidated. But Clare was not too fond of going out alone. Which was silly given she was attacked by the undead rodent in the hotel, but logic had little to do with this. So if someone else was going out, Clare figured joining them was better than waiting to go out on her own later.

Especially when a few of her testing computers had broken down, so it beat playing with the toy car.

Clare scanned the lobby and spotted a now familiar face. His name was Bobby, still a bit young, but older than Winry. He was a bellhop at the hotel, he helped Clare bring in most of her possessions in the city at one time or another, or directions to local eateries. What stuck out most about him was what he told Clare the second time he helped her with the door. He'd told her 'he now understands what his pals saw in women wearing pants,' Clare missed being flattered by this somewhat compliment and skipped to confused. Since then Clare's spoken with him a few times and he seems like a perfectly reasonable person, if you happen to be from the 1920s. He doesn't seem to get that it isn't the 1920s. She politely asked him if he'd help her by taking that back to her room, after a bit of small talk he agreed, adding 'he was always a sucker for a dame in specs'.

She grabbed her bag off the cart, replacing it with the now deactivated car and controller. Leaving the cart to Bobby, then turned to Winry, "How foreign is this place to you?" She was a little awkward asking, but given Winry's comment about remote controlled cars when they spoke, she figured it would be nice to understand exactly how this all was for Winry, as no matter how weird this was for Clare, she had all sorts of mental images saying it was worse for Winry.

Winry watched as Clare negotiated with the bellhop, rolling her eyes a little bit at the commentary from the young man. He probably thought he was charming. When Clare rejoined her and asked her question, Winry shrugged. "It's...different. I mean, there are some things that are the same but a lot of things...not." Like Thomas's automobile. Winry still wasn't sure it was actually a personal car and not a tank. It seemed so huge. She'd also heard someone talking about public transportation of some sort, which confused Winry. She knew trains and feet and horse carts, not city buses or things of that nature.

"It'll be okay, though." She was pretty sure of that. She had her wrench in her pocket and that Eggplant communication device.
