Clare was certain something about the paper collection the young boy did wasn't natural. The jump, mainly, it seemed more along the lines of what her ring allowed her to do. Although she hasn't tried jumping like that, just running and punching. She took the papers and smiled at the boy, he seemed remarkably well mannered for a kid, "Thank you."

Clare put most of the pages into her backpack, but kept out her book for reading when she could manage. Although the wind might prevent such a thing. Then she heard the other boy, he was more her age... but his hair and outfit were a bit... ostentatious. Just a bit. He had one of her pages though, "Sorry... But, yes, that's mine."

"You're welcome," Negi said in response. Before he could ask the girl about the words on the page that had intrigued him he caught sight of movement out of the corner of his eye. He turned his head to see a boy approaching them with one of the pages he had apparently missed. Whoops.

"Thank you for catching that," Negi replied, looking over at Clare, "Are you missing any do you think?"

"No problem," Sora replied, handing the paper to the girl, besides, it wasn't like he caught the paper. His face did!

"So what are you guys doing out here?" Sora asked.

"I think this is it, I'm Clare," Clare looked through all her papers. It seemed to all be in order, with the last page anyway. She added the last page to her bag, and clutched the book to her chest again. Once her bag was closed and on her back again she finally reacted to the older boy's question.

"Oh, um, I needed to get some supplies, that's all," she seemed a bit nervous, so she pulled her jacket a bit more closed. Unfortunately Clare didn't think that through as it just made the shape of the knife on the back of her hip more obvious. "I figured I should do it while there is daylight... safer and all."

"My name is Negi," he said as an introduction to the two older kids. It was probably about time he started meeting new people anyway. Most of the time he hung around Etna's place and while that was fine it did mean he wasn't around the more social hub of the hotels. "I was just taking a walk...I was going to pick up some groceries," Negi replied, shrugging nonchalantly.

He nodded in agreement with Clare, "That is a good idea. It does seem like more of the dangers are concentrated at night as opposed to the daytime. Though, it's probably best to be on guard at all times given the circumstances." He paused, realizing maybe Clare could use an escort or at least a hand with getting supplies, "If you're getting supplies, maybe we can go as a group? There's safety in numbers right?" Not that he was anticipating trouble but he felt like he could do more to help around here if he actually offered his services to people...even if it was merely as an escort. He didn't seem to be aware of the knife.

"I'm Sora," he replied to the other two kids, "I was out looking for something for dinner." Sora's stomach then growled as if on cue, and he laughed and rubbed the back of his head nervously.

He considered what Negi suggested, Sora was a big fan of sticking together, because you could always do more more with friends than when you were alone.

"I wouldn't mind sticking around, it's always better to have friends around"

Clare didn't really want to go buying various nonsensical magic supplies with others. It wasn't as awkward as buying undergarments with them, but more awkward than buying anything else she might need. She was buying magic supplies, but she wasn't a witch. She was thankful the workers at the stores were fake, as it was one less person to eye her suspiciously.

"How about we start with getting dinner, then we can shop for supplies," If she drags it out she can do the last of her supplies tomorrow. She kept her book tight to her chest for now, she was losing hope that she'd get to read a bit more of it, but it would be a bit odd to put it away now. It was probably better to travel as a group, Negi was a bit young. Sora was a bit... well he was cheerful, and that was really nice. However last time Clare was that nice she had a really painful purple bruise on her shoulder. "Since Sora seems hungry now."

Now that dinner was mentioned, Negi realized he could probably go for something to eat as well. "Okay, that sounds like a good idea Miss Clare. Grocery shopping can wait a little while," Negi nodded. He looked over his shoulder and then back at the other two, "I think I saw a burger place a block back that way if you don't mind that."

He looked curiously at the way Clare was holding the book. She seemed very protective of it. He wondered about its contents but thought it might be rude to ask.

"Burgers sound great!" Sora replied excitedly, he hadn't had a good burger since the last time he was in Twilight Town, now that he thought about it.

Unlike Negi, Sora hadn't noticed that Clare was acting paticularly odd, yet, though once he did, he'd likely point it out. He didn't have quite the same sort of tact that Negi did.

"It's just Clare," what was with this kid? The teen girl adjusted her glasses and looked between the two. They certainly were not your average kids. The younger one was polite to a strange degree, didn't sound like he was from any of the American countries. The older one was sunny on a degree similar to Jenna, just without the sickening sweet aspects.

"Well, lead the way Negi," Clare offered, since he knew where they were going. She didn't have any better thoughts for dinner. Except not to give food to any Fae.

Negi couldn't help if he was polite to a fault, it was just in his nature. Still, people were far more casual here so Negi went with it, "All right." He turned around completely to go back the way he had just come, retracing his steps to the Burger King he had passed on the way here. It would be nice to be somewhere warm and out of this dreadfully cold wind.

Deciding to keep conversation going on the short trip there Negi decided to ask, "Where are you two from?"

Sora followed Negi to the burger place, putting his hands behind his head. The two kids seemed really nice, and Sora wanted to get to know them better.

"I'm from Destiny Islands," Sora replied, though he figured the othwr two wouldn't know where that was, this was another world after all. "What about you, Negi? Where are you from?"

"Ontario, Canada," Clare answered. Thankfully of the questions to ask that one was pretty easy. Clare's lived in Ontario her whole life, completely ordinary life there. "Circa 2008," about the only qualifier she thought might be important. Given who she has met here, and the answer being important.

"I've never heard of there, is it nice?" She wasn't sure if this was a linguistic barrier issue, or just another world grossly separated from standard Earth. It seemed a bit direct a place name... but it could be the name of a location on Earth. She didn't know every detail of geography.

Negi pushed the door open and entered the little fast food restaurant. It was strange how even places like this could be different from what he was used to in both Japan and England, but he didn't mind it so much. "Well, originally I'm from a small village in England but up until recently I was teaching at a school in Japan," he paused and then decided to add, "But I was visiting the Magical world when I was brought here." He decided to fore go explaining where the magical world was as it would really just make things messy. He was still a little nervous about being so open with his magic and background but he felt as though it wouldn't count against him here...given the circumstances. Besides, other wizards were open about it, why couldn't he?

He smiled, he hadn't heard of Destiny Islands either but they sounded like a nice place. Negi stepped up to the food counter and placed his order there.

"I've never been to any of those places before," Sora replied to both Clare and Negi, "But I'd like to see them."

He paused to place his order at the counter, then turned back to Clare.

"Destiny Islands is really nice and peaceful" there was a hint of melancholy to Sora's reply, he hadn't seen his home in close to two years, and he had thought that Door he and Riku would have sent him back there with Kairi, not send him here. But, hey, Sora was making new friends here, that was always nice.

There was an obvious break in her steps when Negi mentioned teaching in Japan. She was fairly certain ten year olds didn't teach... normally. It took the edge off when he mentioned being in a Magical World recently. Clare was pretty sure, now, that she was the exception to the rule here. Everyone but her was in some way extraordinary, she was certain now.

"Sounds pleasant," she said to Sora, although she did gather he was leaving something out. She figured it was simple homesickness, being here and not there. "I'm from a city pretty similar to this one," this was true in a general sense, of course Clare noticed every difference, but her family didn't move a lot, so she was very accustomed to home, "The climate is a bit cooler, architecture in Toronto is different too. No monsters or magical fog, that's a pretty definitive difference."
