Characters: Sanji and Brook
Time: Before and during the blackout, while Franky and Usopp are busy getting run over repeatedly by fairies.
Location: Blackstone hotel.
Content: Fussing, freakouts, and possible f-bombs.
Format: Prose
Warnings: Sanji swears a lot and Brook is...Brook. A lot.

Brook could sympathize with the shipwright, he supposed. Staying busy somehow was always helpful when...well, it was always helpful. But he couldn't help but question whether staying busy outdoors at night in a largely desolate half-haunted city was really the best thing to choose to do, even if looking for more cola sounded like a perfectly rational course of action otherwise. The place made Brook itch like Thriller Bark all over again, and he couldn't quite suppress a twinge in some nonexistent place inside himself at the thought of one of their own going out in that without him. Not that he wanted to go out in that himself at all! Those first nights here on his own had been quite enough, thank you! These conflicting urges didn't strike him as particularly irrational.

For now at least, there was a very simple solution to said conflict in the form of a decidedly banged-up young pirate who Brook was going to keep an eye on if it killed him--ha! Double skull joke! But seriously, now.

There was only one thing that could lure him away from his duty, however briefly, and that justified only when Sanji had woken up after sleeping some admittedly odd hours and clearly could have done with a round of caffiene himself. Brook gleefully abandoned his passtime of watching out the window (alternating with curious study of the peculiar snailless radio) and went to raid the little cafe downstairs for drinks and sandwiches and anything else that looked like a good idea at the time. There was room in the fridge for extras, he figured.

Getting the door open upon his return with all he was carrying took some considerable balance and dexterity, but as he was no slouch in either department when it mattered, everything worked out.

"Mr. Sanji? I'm back!" he said as the door swung open, quite unnecessarily. Just in case that were a surprise. It could have been, you don't know.
