Sam slipped out of the passenger seat of Dee's car and onto wobbly legs. One of his hips popped in quiet annoyance for sitting for so long. Well, they were home now so it could stop complaining. Sam stretched a little and closed the car door behind him ( Read more... )

Dee could tell that he was fumbling with the words in his head and trying to find an easy way to say what he wanted to. When he explained what the last trial was and how the last person that tried to do it died a little after her heart fell right into her stomach and started beating at a rapid pace. There was no sugar coating this one. Sam had it in his mind that he was going to die and he was okay with it. She had to bite at her bottom lip to keep herself together and closes her eyes as he asked what he promised of her ( ... )

Sam let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. He hoped she wouldn't fight him on it and it looked like it worked but... he was still worried about what she would do afterwards... after he was gone. He was worried that she wouldn't be able to stop Dean from doing something stupid.

"Thank you," he breathed, leaning over to press his forehead against her's. He letnhis eyes slip shut. "I'm so sorry."

After everything, all the holding back and pushing away... after all that he finally lets her close and now he's gonna die. He finally lets himself have something good and now he's gonna lose it and hurt her so much more than he could have ever done if he was never with her.

How was she supposed to fight him on it? He had already started the trials and who knew if he was going to survive if he stopped? Arguing with him would have just been pointless. Sam already had it set in his mind that he was doing this and nothing Dee could say would change his mind. He was going to save the world from Hell by shutting it down forever. He is and would be a hero whether he saw that or not. She would do what she promised and try her best to make Dean let Sam rest but she wasn't sure if he would listen to her ( ... )

Sam pulled back a little when she spoke, looking into those bright eyes of her's. He'd promise her the moon if she wanted it. "Of course," he said, dark circles under his eyes telling exactly how tired he was.

He ran his thumb over her knuckles in a soothing manner, trying to comfort her as best as he could right now. He could see the tears and he knew how much this was and still could hurt her. He just didn't know who else to ask for help. Dean certainly wouldn't let him go, he already knew that but... Dee would. Dee would love him enough to let him go. At least he hoped she would.

When his eyes connected with hers she takes a deep breath, trying to find those words she wanted to say without breaking right in front of him. "You have to let me love you...every day until your last without fighting me on it." Dee bits again at her quivering lip but it was no use because her voice broke as she tried to push through more words. "And I want you to promise me...that I can take care of you until..." She leans her head back and sighs as she is trying to get rid of the knot in her throat. Dee looks back at him and shakes her head. "Sorry."

Dee let's out another deep breath before she continues. "I want to be there for you in any way that I can...to make this easy on you. And leaving before you go is not an option." She only hoped that he could promise to let her be there in any way until he left this earth.

"Can you do that?"

All Sam wanted to do was wrap her up in his arms and hold her close. Fuck, this was so hard and he evermdid was hurt people. God he was an idiot. He wanted to wipe those teara away and never make her cry again but he knew that... if and when he died it would just hurt her more.

"I... I can promise some of that. But not all," he said, looking down at their hands. "I... I don't want you there when I finish the third trial. The king of Hell is gonna be there and I don't want him knowing you exist if this thing goes south."

He knew she might yell at him because of it but he had to make sure she was safe, even till the end. "So you can stay, I want you to stay but... but you can't go with me. Dean and I are gonna do this. I'd like it if it was just me but I know he'll be there babysitting me..."

She knew there would be a catch somewhere but it was something she couldn't argue. Sam was just looking out for her and protecting her the best way he knew how. Dee was not in the mood to yell at him. There was no point in fighting. The day Sam took the trials he made a decision and that was that. Dee forces a nod and keeps one hand in his while the other moves to his cheek. "You don't believe me when I say how brave you are, Sam. But you are. And I will forever admire that about you."

Her forehead rests against his before leaning in to kiss him gently. Never did she think that she would fall for the guy she met in a bar a couple years ago. Something that should have been a one night stand but always showed up in her path. "Another thing you might not see is that I believe we were supposed to meet and that this happen. How you would just show up in the same town...at the same time right when I needed you."

Dee shrugs and gives a soft chuckle. "Maybe I'm over thinking it. But I feel like we were meant to be apart of each others lives

This was starting to sound a little too much like a death bed speech. He didn't think he was brave. He was just doing his job. Thats all. Closing the gates of Hell forever was just another job. But he smiled anyway, thanking her silently with another kiss.

As far as them meeting and getting together... "I've been fighting my destiny... or destiny in general but... I know we were meant to be together in some sort of way. There's only so many coincidences I can get smacked in the head with before I understand," he finished with a slight smile.

"I'm just sorry that I kept this from you, from us. I'm sorry that I waited till the end for us to be able to be happy."

That was all she was going to say about him dying. The secret was out and now it was time to prepare herself as much as she could though she knew there was no preparing for the loss of someone she loved. It was going to hurt and it was going to be bad. But, she would pick herself up and try her best to move on keeping a piece of him with her every day.

She was grateful that he agreed with her and she didn't have to feel stupid that she was the only one that realized there was more to them than the every so often fling. "Sam...you don't have to keep apologizing. You don't see me running anywhere and you don't see me hating or resenting you for it. No good is going to come from that. I want to be able to just...enjoy the time I have left with you."

Dee shifts a little and gives his hands a little squeeze. "With that said...you need sleep. And then after you've rested I can make us lunch and we can go on with the tour of this place. Or...if you want to just lay here and catch up on sleep? I can lay here right beside you. You're choice

Sam expected her to run, partially wanted her to. That way she could just go on with her life and not have to worry about the sick sasquatch.

But he just nodded, pulling her hand up to his dry lips to kiss them gently. "Okay. You uh... you can check out the rest of the bunker if you want. I'll probably be out for a while." Last time he went to take a nap he was out for a good 10 hours. Still felt like he hadn't had any sleep though.
