Sam slipped out of the passenger seat of Dee's car and onto wobbly legs. One of his hips popped in quiet annoyance for sitting for so long. Well, they were home now so it could stop complaining. Sam stretched a little and closed the car door behind him ( Read more... )

Sam would never, ever let her get involved in this. He was already getting pitying looks from Dean about this whole thing. And she was starting to look at him different too. He hated that. He hated not being on top of his game. Hated the looks of wonder and sadness he got from the people he cared about.

But in the end he was glad it was him and not Dean doing these trials. Dean didn't need this as much as he did. Dean didn't need the forgiveness and cleansing as much as Dean did. Hell, Dean didn't need forgiveness and cleansing at all. Big brother had already made amends with everything.

Sam was the one still coughing up demon blood. At least that's what he figured his body was doing. Purging out the darkness. He'd die pure and Sam was okay with that.

He couldn't tell Dee that though. She'd find out soon enough just how sick he was, just how dead on his feet he was. Hell, he was amazed he was still able to perform bedroom activities like that last night.

Sam stood by his bedroom door, watching Dee clean off his bed. He liked having his own room but it didn't look as lived in as Dean's. He didn't want Dean to have to pack up too much stuff when he died after the trials.

Yeah... that was a good way to think, Sam...

When the bed was cleaned off by the woman he swore was gonna hate him by the time he died, he sat down on the opposite edge of it. Shrugging off his jacket he kept his eyes on the floor. He hated the feeling of being taken care of. Especially now. He wanted everything to be alright. He wanted a life with Dee outside of this bunker but... none of that was gonna happen.

"Thanks," he murmured over his shoulder before laying down on his back sunken eyes closing quickly. Why was he just so fucking tired all the time. Good thing killing a hell hound was the first trial. Sam wasn't even sure he had enough strength to do a push up, let alone keep a hell hound from eating his face.

It was in her nature to take care of the people she loved. When her mother turned to the bottle, Dee had been there to clean her up and put her into bed after she passed out at the kitchen table. After everything her mother had been through though, she couldn't blame her. It was an awful thing what her father put them through with leaving them behind to start a new family. Sam thought that she left a great normal life behind when that wasn't the case. Hunting to her was better than what she left behind. Sure, she loved her family dearly but it was a situation she was ready to get out of.

Once his bed was cleaned off and he sat down, her hand lightly rubs his back before Sam finally laid back and automatically closed his eyes. Dee grins and curls up to his side lightly running her fingers through his hair.

"Didn't think I wore you out that bad last night."

Since Sam wasn't going to talk about what was making him so tired and draining him, Dee simply made a joke about last night. He was a great lover whether he thought that or not. Never did Dee have a man that paid attention to her body the way he did and it didn't surprise her how fast she fell for him.

It was weird. Sam knew nothing about her past, her family, what she'd been through. All he knew about her was what she'd told him. And Sam was pretty sure she didn't know everything about him either.

If she did... she'd probably go running for the hills.

He chuckled a little at her joke, eyes cracking open to look up at her. "Oh yeah. Man... if that's what every nights gonna be... I'm gonna need to stock up on Viagra."

His smile slipped away slowly as his eyes moved away from her face, staring up at the ceiling. "Nah, babe. It's not you. Just the job," he admitted in a low tone.

He'd tell her... he'd tell her eventually. It'd probably end up in a lecture but he'd tell her.

Dee knew that eventually they would talk about their past and what they had been through. It wasn't something she was ashamed of really. It made her the strong woman she was today. And it wasn't that her whole childhood was bad. Just parts of it. Nobody was perfect and everyone had a past and a story. It was nice to hear even the slightest chuckle come from Sam when she cracked a joke. Her goal was just to make him happy.

She had to laugh when he played back with her and shook her head. "You are not going to need Viagra, sweetheart. Make me sound like I'm a succubus." Dee leans down and lightly kisses him with a smile.

When Dee sees his smile falter a little, she tilts her head. "You ever think of taking just a weekend away? I know it's hard in this line of work. But...even just a weekend might do you some good." She lays her head next to his as she stares up at the ceiling with him as she kind of daydreams into what it would be like just to veg with him for a couple days and just be a regular couple.

"Could just...check into a nice hotel room and just sleep...watch movies...just veg out." The more she spoke about it the more it sounded like heaven. "It's nice to think about at least."

"Sexiest succubus I've ever seen." He smiled into the kiss but in a moment it was gone. His hand reaches out to hold her's gently as she joins him in watching the ceiling.

"That sounds great," he sighs, wishing it could actually happen. "But I can't. Dean and I... we're almost done with something and I can't just take a break. I mean... right now is a break, I guess. But leaving?" He shook his head.

"Dean's got me on bunker lockdown. Leaving last night kinda ticked him off." He paused and thought about it. "Well... ticked him off is probably bad wording. He was really really concerned and when he gets back from grocery shopping I'm probably gonna get an ear full if the message he left on my phone was any indication."

"Apparently I'm 'too weak in my current state to go see you'," he huffed an annoyed laugh, using air-quotes and everything. "Not allowed to leave his sight. Not allowed to leave the bunker."

He sighed again. He hated feeling like a little kid. He hated this whole thing. But it would get the job done so for right now, just to give his brother peace of mind, he'd listen to Dean.

Her fingers laced with his as she stares up at the ceiling. Even them doing something as simple as this was worth spending time with him. The fact he reached for her hand made her heart skip a little and butterflies flutter in her stomach. She didn't think that Sam really knew how badly he affected her. The smallest gestures he did got her going. Dee squeezes his hand a little as he explains why something like that couldn't happen.

Of course it was the job. It had been Sam and Dean's whole life. This had to be something pretty big for him to be this tired. But, Dee wasn't going to drill him with questions right now. She would be a supportive girlfriend and be there when he needed her to be. "Well...maybe after this job is finished then." She turns her head and looks at him. "You at least deserve a weekend of rest after this one, right?"

He then explained that Dean had a close on eye on him and was worried and hearing that made her worry a little more too. But, Dean was always one to worry about Sam. He made that his job to take care of his little brother and to watch out for him. At least that was what Dee learned. "If you can't leave the bunker than I will come here to you." Dee turns back onto her side and props her head up with her hand so she can see his face a little bit better.

"If that is what I can do to make things easier on you? Then I will do it. And if you want my help? I am here for that too." Dee gives his hand another gentle squeeze and smiles at him gently. "You have me no matter what, babe. Even if it is to just...fall asleep next to you at night until this job is over because you may think it's too dangerous for me."

Sam would need more than a weekend vacation when these trials were over. In all actuality, he kinda figured he'd need a dirt nap. A very long, very deep dirt nap. And he knew it wasn't fair to Dee to think like that or to expect it to happen... or even worse, know it would happen and then abandon her when he was gone.

But it was the job. And no matter what, he had to finish it. He couldn't... wouldn't let Dean down again.

Sam squeezed her hand back, smiling over at her. "Yeah... Yeah, I do. But I doubt that'll happen, Dee. There'll just be another hunt, another monster to take down and... Dean'll probably have his hands full with other stuff so who knows."

But it sounded nice. Just being able to relax with her, be himself around her. Sounded wonderful. Too bad he'd probably be dead within the week.

He smiles over at her when she shifted to see him better. She called him babe back. That was sweet. She was perfect and he was a fool to not have seen it before. "What would I do without you?" he asked quietly, smiling softly up at her.
