Snowflake Challenge, days 3-15
Have I mentioned I am the worst at memes? Oops. But have... most of a snowflake challenge.
1-I am generally in favor of bad and wrong Adam/Scorpina fic, and Perfection by Hagar totally fits the bill. ADAM IS SO FUCKED UP AND NEEDS ALL THE HUGS.
2-Homecoming, by someone I suspect I know, was written for me for
holly_poly. It is the Jen/Wes/Eric/Taylor fic I have been asking for for YEARS and it is great and everyone should go read it.
3-I already recced One of Their Own which was the PR version of evil Gosei Knight by Pocky and it is FANTASTIC and everyone should read it. But since I already recced that, have some of my other favorite Alpha fics: Mistel Me What You're Thinking by Rev, which features both Jake and Gia as bros, and Troy needing hugs. Private Lessons by Tigger, which is the Rocky and Justin friendship backstory I always wanted.
Harry Potter. I would not be living where I am if not for Harry Potter. If I hadn't made the friends I did through that fandom, I never would have moved to Georgia. I might not be a librarian. I probably might not have gotten involved in fandom the same way, since it was HP that got me to post fanfic for the first time. I mean, I could do without parts of the fandom, and parts of it were certainly horrible for my mental health, but I cannot imagine my life or where I would be without HP and the fandom.
Day 8 - if you want to say nice things about me, I guess you can? This is awkward and weird.
1-A damn kink meme for power rangers/sentai/toku that DOES NOT DIE. Or one in general. SERIOUSLY WE HAVE CANON EVERYTHING HOW DO WE NOT HAVE A KINK MEME.
2-A worldbuilding exchange/fest of some sort. I really just want people to write me ridiculous fic about how insurance works in Angel Grove and whether or not monster attacks count as acts of god. And college essays and the construction industry and the reporters who flock to whichever town is being attacked this year just in the hopes that they will witness a fight/get to interview a power ranger.
3-For someone to write me that Scott/Summer pretending to be married fic. ONE DAY. ONE DAY THIS WILL HAPPEN.
Fandom is never going to die. There will always be new fanworks of some sort (although maybe not as much of a particular TYPE or pairing that you want) and people to talk about things. Fandom has been around for a really long time. Maybe the way we interact will change, but... I don't think fandom is going anywhere. Although I'd really like to see the next platform combine AO3/tumblr/LJ type things in some way to find a better form, because while I like tumblr, you can't carry on a damn conversation there, and I hate the lack of privacy settings. But I am not worried about fandom's future. Fandom adapts. It's pretty great.
The one thing I really want to do this year is actually seriously work on the Gokaiger AU I'm working on with Pocky. As much fun as the planning is, I would really like us to actually write this. Because it is great and fun and also I have literally been talking about variations of this since Gokaiger started airing almost three years ago.
Oh, and maybe this will be the year that I actually finish my Tanya wins an Oscar fic. (Nope. But it would be nice.)
And of course, I am planning on running Alpha again.
I said on the day 6 entry that HP changed everything for me, and I really mean that. I met my best friends because of fandom. I live where I do because of fandom. I've gone to weddings because of fandom. It was fandom friends that kept me from committing suicide ten years ago. Fandom friends are coming across the country to visit for my birthday for the second year in a row, and it is GREAT. I can't imagine my life without the friends I've made through fandom, and my life is such a better place because of you all, and I am forever grateful.
Day 15-What do I want to see more people doing in fandom: Watch Power Rangers. Or sentai. There is a season of something that is perfect for you, I promise.
