So, I've got news!
I am switching departments within my company, I am going from a banker support help desk, a banker tech support help desk. For those who don't work for the company I work for might be going "huh?"
I am going from helping bankers with procedures in a purely customer service help desk kind of job, to a helping bankers when something computer/network related isn't working right. Same Company, different department and location, and I am going to have to find a place to park now (anyone know any inexpensive parking in downtown Mpls, in the Washington Ave and 2nd neck of the woods?)
they haven't set my start date yet, as my current manager and my new manager have to haggle that detail out, I hope to know soon, but it sounds like end of the month, early next month.
Ive been trying to get into this department for a while, its very much a spring board for getting into the technology side of the company when you don't have a degree, a place to show you know your stuff, and get known, so its very much a career move, for the most part, right now its a lateral move (same basic job, different subject), but the room for growth and advancement is so much greater that where I was, which we are lucky if 1 opening comes available every couple of years, and then have to sell your self in a resume against 15-30 canadates, then try to outshine the 8-12 that get an interview, in what for the most part seems to be for the most part, a popularity contest. So yea, lots of room for advancement (big department segment of the company, lots of jobs, and people always moving up or out. I am not going to see to much more pay, if any once I have to pay for parking.
So yea, happy me! though after training, I will switch to 2nd shift (2:30pm-11pm) M-F, so thats going to be interesting, have to see how thats going to work, hopefully earlyer hours will open in in a few months, and I can get back to getting off work around 5pm.
Anyways, yep, thats the news!
