Lunacon report

This year's Lunacon was interesting. They were still renovating the hotel up to and during the convention, and the signage for the "Hilton D'Isaster" was definitely one of the highlights (especially since the hotel didn't take the signs down). I'm glad you like my Hotel d'Isaster signs! We knew people would either get upset or be amused, and I was trying to set the mood for "amused."

Alhambra is reasonably fun with three players, OK with four and to be avoided with more. That said, I think that the actual playing of it is somewhat mechanical. Can you buy a tile for exact cost? If so, do so, otherwise take more money. Since I started following that strategy I've won much more than usual. There's a pretty good online implementation of this game at http://www.boiteajeux.net.

I like Jambo a fair bit. Pretty random, but still some good strategic elements and plays fast.

Also, don't underestimate Loco, which is essentially just a cheaper clone of Quandary. I like the latter better because of the cool bakelite pieces, but the gameplay is actually quite deep.
