I was listening to a podcast today. If I don't have some kind of white noise while arting I will pass out. Anyway, this podcast has some interesting things that they were talking about.
I think that all but one of the guys in the show are comic artist, on the side, and they are doing commissions. Like myself they are doing commissions to make ends meet. There was talk about how they wish they could just art all day but they do have obligations like family and debts. Art usually does not pay for that and being an illustrator means that you most likely do not have insurance.
Basically talk about missed opportunity or not trying hard enough. As some of you know I have said that I as of yet not put 100% into being an artist. Where I have made some improvements in the last couple of years I don't think that I have tried THAT hard to be an artist. I think if I tried a bit harder I would finish commissions in the same month that I accept them.
So, the thing to do is to push myself to completing art and refining my presentation of it. Tonight I am going to make headway in commissions. I am also going to get started on some of my own art. Now what makes this hard (what I usually avoid) is my projected start time is going to be around 7:30. We will se how I get through this in a week.
Going to have to find some tv shows or something to keep me going as long as I can.
The key is effort.
