EXCITEMENT! FOR SUMMER AND BEYOND!
So then this summer....
everyone will have work and whatnought, but when it comes to FUN, what should some of us be doing?
Well, I do believe that I am close to a place of financial and otherwise comfort, and those were my prerequisites to doing the following:
PHASE 2 OF THE WHATEVER PROJECT!
and/or
PHASE 2 OF THE VAUDE-VILLAINS!
so then me typing this doesn't mean I'm in charge at all for EITHER... but in terms of TWP, i kinda went behind a lot of peoples backs to make it an official entity. So then there's a 5 year leeway in which to do things before renewing the name.
Vaude Villains wise, i gots to thinking about a few things:
1) alumni beat the pants off the current costa crew
2) it doesn't take much to do improv
3) regarding the officialites of getting something registered and all that stuff, i now know a bit more, so whether it's The Vaude Villains or whatever, it can be done, and i for one know how.
4) It's summer, a good spot for late evening-night improv is the Hermosa Park, also, the 2nd Story Theatre in hermosa is just small/big enough for an improv crew
5) I re-read almost all of my live journal entries and there was a cool name of a fake troupe i made up called "THE NOID" whose motto was "JUST TRY TO AVOID US" and it made me think of how cool comedy (when cutting edge) can be.
The Whatever Project is a much larger deal than any 'simple' improv/comedy troupe....but i don't see why one has to be exclusive to the others. FOR INSTANCE, if the comedy troupe is doing IT'S thing, with minimal sets and/or costumes, and THE WHATEVER PROJECT is doing (at first) web-based content (think theonion.com), i don't see how the two couldn't mutually exist and benefit one another. The troupe's existence provides for one more thing to put on www.thewhateverproject.com (it IS registered, in my name only because it's my name and po box that gets the mail/bill for now), and down the line, the purpose of TWP gets served: cutting edge entertainment. Think of it like THIS if you will: Nabisco and Kraft are to Phillip Morris as The Comedy Troupe COULD be to The Whatever Project. Everything acts of it's own accord, but in turn bulks up the portfolio of TWP.
This will also bode well for 2 years down the line, when 'THE THEATER' is re-opened in hermosa (current residents= gallery c).
I know this is do-able!
