mmmmm .... (misc thoughts)

Once in a while - actually once a week - I try to visit the church of St Francis Xavier in PJ - http://www.sfx.com.my/ -

Being usually involved in the "production" of the weekend Masses at my own parish ( http://www.shckl.org/) - things get rather distracting so it is nice to go to place where nobody knows you and you can fully participate in a contemplative Mass to "re-charge" for the week ahead so to speak .. so it is really nice .. and i look forward to my Sunday 5.30pm "private" masses @ SFX week after week.

but as with most RC churches nowadays, once Mass ends, the church turns into a veritable FISH market - everybody chatting and laughing and kids running around amok - this has its good and bad - it is wonderful to have people being so "full of life" and joyful in church - it makes for a nice convival spirit and feel of community which is a wonderful thing. But all this activity, is not conducive for quiet contemplation and post communion reflection.

So the the SFX parish built an absolutely gorgeous adoration chapel within the church complex where reverential silence is to be upheld at all times. And it is such a gorgeous place indeed!

of course it is all plaster and the columns and vaulted ceilings are all ermm .. fake .. hahaha .. but it does "work" its magic in calming the soul and mind as one contemplates the actual presence of Christ in the blessed sacrament in the tabernacle in the middle of the altar frontpiece (that white round thing in the middle just below the crucifix) - and the aircon temp is justt nice! gegege.

Is a really lovely place - and I am glad that SFX had it built.

V - December 21

O ORIENS, splendor lucis aeternae et sol iustitiae: veni et illumina sedentem in tenebris et umbra mortis.

O Star who rises (Zechariah 3:8; Jeremiah 23:5), splendour of the eternal light (Wisdom 7:26) and sun of justice (Malachi 3:20): come and enlighten those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death (Isaiah 9:1; Luke 1:79).
