random shit., and my history on the internet.

Okay, so today and tomorrow I am working 17 hours out of 36. Ouch.

I had a store meeting from 7 am (YEAH, 7 AM) to 9:30, (which ended up going to 9:55. It had to stop them cause we opened at 10.) And then I worked from 10 am to 4 pm.

So that was 9 hours straight, and then tomorrow I get to work from open to close, which is 11 am to 7 pm, but since we have closing duties and people wont be out of the store before 7:30, I will probably end up working 11 to 8, so that would be two 9 hours shifts in a row.

FUN.

In other, not related news, I was looking at the history of Microsoft OS releases on Wikipedia (yes, I am a big nerd, that shit fascinates me) and it took me to a page of Microsoft release names and pre-productions names (like Vista, before it was released was named Longhorn). And that in turn led me to Windows Hotmail.

If you are wondering, I do this ALL the time, let one page lead me to another and click a link that leads me to another. I love where I end up.

ANYWAYS, I wondered if I could get into my old Hotmail account. So, it took a while to get the right info put in, but I eventually got it. And there was an info page. It says I created the email r******y@hotmail.com on August 18th, 1997.

That was 3 days after my 22nd birthday. I would have been in my 4th year in college (though I didn't graduate until December 1998 because I took a semester off, and had to retake some classes since I transferred colleges and some classes didn't transfer.)

Honestly, I thought I had one before that, but it does make sense. The first college I went to, I could only get online by logging onto a BBS. (Most of you are *WAY* too young to know what a BBS is.) So I couldn't get an email address yet.

I was probably on BBSes from late 1993 or early 1994 until I transferred out of that college in the summer of 1995. Once I went to my second college (where I graduated), they had a REAL computer lab (at the other college I used an old personal computer in my dorm room and a modem that hogged my phone line). And I was actually able to get on the Internet for the first time, probably in either late 1995 or early 1996.

It still surprises me that it took me till 1997 to get an email address, because as far as I can remember, that was my first ever email address.

So.. I have an email address that has been active for 13 years. That is a little scary. I have cousins and friends who are not that old. That SCARES me. I feel so old.... :(

EDIT: So I am going through my just over 800 old pieces of mail on hotmail.com, plus my over 100 pieces of junk mail (the junk mail is deleted after 10 days, so that is why I only have a little over 100.)

So, apparently I haven't checked it since at least June of 2008, because that is about how far back my mail goes. Honestly, I thought it would have been longer than that.
