But what if, like, Niall came out to the boys right in the beginning when they all met. And he was just really not ready to come out or to be subjected to any rumours, so Louis and Harry hatched a plan to protect him and hatched this whole plan to look really gay with each other and play up the bromance, so nobody would suspect Niall to be.
And then their bromance got fodder for us fangirls, and it got unnecessarily harsh on them and all the girls they are affiliated with, so Liam and Zayn decided to step it up as well, and suddenly everyone was romancing each other and it turned into one hell of a big joke when Niall joined it as well.
And they are genuine about it, like you'd imagine best friends who flirt with their best friends for their best friends protection would be. But they also all tease each other about it a fair amount. Like Zayn'd tease Louis about touching Liam and Harry's tease Zayn right back about making heart eyes at Niall and Niall would jump right in and tease Harry about whispering into Louis's neck like he's never learned that the ear is the location of listening, and it's so much fun and in the end they end up in cuddle piles behind the camera more than they do in front of it.
To be honest, for this to be true Niall doesn't even have to be gay. He could just not like being in the limelight or something, haha.
