rules and guidelines
IC|OOC. Just as it does everywhere else, the golden rule of rp still applies here. Please don't cross that line. It makes things rather uncomfortable when you do.
Biographies & examples. Upon applying you must have biography written for your character. We ask that it be at least 3 paragraphs long or 10 detailed facts. Keep in mind that realism is key and we'll be looking for that when you apply. Examples are also a requirement. You may drop them off in the dropbox. Please do not pm them.
Updating & activity. All updates are to be posted in your characters journals. There are no sub-comms for lyrics, pictures, etc. We require at least one substantial update (2+ paragraphs) every four weeks but you are not limited to how often you can post. Activity is key in games like these so feel free to update as often as you like with whatever you would like. We do ask that you be respectful towards your fellow writers and put all sensitive material behind a cut. Commenting others, as well as aim play, will also count towards activity. IC introductions must be posted in your character's journal within first 72 hours.
Hiatuses. Real life will always trump RP. Hiatuses are allowed, and must be asked for either in private through the dropbox or in the OOC comm, whichever best suits the player. Hiatuses can last for three weeks, after that the mod will attempt to contact you. If you don't reply, your character(s) will be removed and made available for recasting, and you may reapply. If you vanish without warning the mod, and fail to answer their inquiries, your characters will be removed. Because real life DOES trump RP, if there are extenuating circumstances, or three weeks passes and the mod is able to contact you, but you still can't return yet, the mod will review these situations on a case-by-case basis. A regularly-active player who keeps in touch and wants to return will likely be given leeway. A habitually inactive player who rarely updates/logs more than the bare minimum will most likely not be.
Characterization. We will be only accepting faces who are popular within the film and music industries. Anyone else such as scene queens, youtube "stars", socialites or anyone similar, will be turned away. For that we apologize. Everyone else is fair game. Race, gender and sexual orientation is up to you. We do not discriminate here. Please keep in mind when that when it comes to your character, we ask that they be 18+ and that their pb is within the 5 year range; so either older by 5 years or younger.
Characters. This is an AU town game based in a real-life setting - it takes place in Seattle, Washington. AU, PB and original characters are accepted but not characters being played as their Real-Life counterparts.
Character Limits. At this time, there is a three character limit. This may change, and more characters may be allowed to players who've proved able to handle them. You may hold two characters to start, but the mod asks that you wait a month before holding a third.
Shipping. This game requires that you play/scene with more than just your romantic storyline partner. Of course, we all have a favorite RP partner, and if you want to scene with them more than anyone else, that's perfectly fine! If you love your ship and want to do ten scenes a week with them - go for it! All you'll be asked is that you ALSO play with others in the comm. Not all relationships are romantic. Friendships, or just plain meeting new people or chatting with ones you don't know well - these can all be fun, and interaction is encouraged. If you are, however, seen RPing solely with one other character/player, then you will receive an informal heads up first, and then your first warning if it continues. If all you want to play out is the romantic part of your character's life, then you are encouraged to pursue a private storyline instead.
Slash. This is a slash-friendly game, so shipping will take up a lot of room, and that is perfectly fine. If you want to bring in a strictly heterosexual character - that's fine too. Remember, all characters are welcomed regardless of their gender or orientation.
Pregnancies. Seattlites is like any other town game except that in this game, men can also conceive and carry children. For more info, please visit Mpreg PAGE. All pregnancies must be approved first by commenting on the PREGNANCY REQUESTS PAGE, a members-only post. There will only be 4 pregnancy S/Ls allowed in the game at one time and it'll be done on first come, first served basis. Existing children will also be allowed in the game and will not require approval from the mod to join with. If you join with an existing child, you will however have to wait 3 months before requesting a pregnancy S/L.
Plot. Players are encouraged to come up with their own plots. Small plots - a fight, a romance, a stolen wallet - these are great and needn't be cleared by a mod. (Though of course any plot involving characters other than your own MUST be cleared with the other characters' muns!) Larger plots - death, major assault, pregnancy - MUST be run by the mod first. (This doesn't mean major plots aren't allowed/encouraged - the mod just needs to know about it beforehand.)
Drama. Anything that is done in-game will have in-game consequences. Cheating lines if both parties are not made aware of the intentions OOC are not allowed, as they usually create copious amounts of unnecessary ooc drama.
Journals. Your journal name and your AIM name must relate to your character's name for less confusion. All journals and twitter accounts (should you choose to use one) are required to have a disclaimer stating they are for RP purposes.
Questions & concerns. Please feel free to use the dropbox for any questions or concerns you may have, regarding the game, your character, a situation with another player, etc. We want to make this place as enjoyable and relaxing as we can. Our door is always open!
