Long time, no write! There's lots to catch up on, but really, I can't put my finger on it all right now. Lemme sum up.
This weekend was a perfect break. I've been wanting to see DC for years and years (all my life, really) and I finally got to do so. Even if we didn't get to see all the monuments that I wanted to, and even if the ones we did get to see were almost unilaterally under repair or somesuch, it was still very much a kid-in-the-candy-store sort of day for me. I had my face pressed against the window the entire way, giddily pointing out to my poor companions (to whom all this excitement was commonplace) that, look, there's the Capital! And it's huge! Oh, oh! You can see the White House through the trees from here! And the Washington!
Highlight: The Jeff. It might have been my state of mind at the time. It might have been that it came at the end of a very good day. It might be that the monument is just that cool. But with the sun low in the sky around dinner time, nestled comfortably on a bench inside the cavernous dome, whispering and giggling ... I could happily have spent the rest of the weekend - the month, the year - right there.
