I got home safe from my weekend trip, and very happy I spent the time, but oy! I'm a tuckered out little scamp. It's not even 9 yet, and I'm heading to bed just as soon as I click 'Update Journal'. The first and last couple hours of the drive back were rough. I was seriously zoned. With luck, I'll be able to sleep in tomorrow morning even though I'm going to bed so freakishly early.
I'll need the sleep.
This is final exam week, and as a result the next few nights will be of the 'shit, when did the sun come up?' variety. Traditionally, I will forgo sleep, food and human company for the duration of the exams, leaving my desk only rarely in order to guzzle a glass of water every eight hours or so, hand in a paper or take a test. At least once every quarter (sometimes twice if my midterms happen to be grouped unfavorably in the same week) I perform this self-destructive ritual of studious hyperfocus almost without deviation. The most notable exception being March of my sophomore year when I got it into my head to feed the ducks on a chilly Wednesday morning at sunrise, operating on merely the 4 or 5 hours of sleep I had gotten the Sunday night previous. To this day, I remain unsure whether or not I hallucinated the ducks.
The moral of the story is that I probably won't post again until Wednesday night or Thursday, and if I do, it's likely to be inane babble borne of sleep deprivation and tedium combining for a wicked state of delirium while I take a rare break. Amusingly, this process actually WORKS for me. I've been doing this for years, and as wicked as it is on my body, the grades don't lie. If it ain't broken and all that.
Wish me luck. :)
