Morning Complaints

Apr 18, 2006 09:02

Ugh I’ve only been up for two hours and already I have several things to complain about…this can’t be good.

For starters, Metro is planning to revise the Eastside bus routes and that includes the 236 and 255. The problem? After enjoying convenient access to the 255 on 160th for a few years now, Metro wants to move the terminus of the route to Totem Lake. In its place, the 236 would be rerouted to serve the areas between Brickyard Park and Ride and Totem Lake, largely using the existing route for the 255. Service hours and frequency would not change however. On Sundays for example the last run of the 236 begins at 5:00 PM while the 255 currently runs until 11:30 at night; while the 255 runs at least every half hour all week, the 236’s schedule is trimmed to hourly runs on weekends. Granted the schedule changes do have merit since the 255 is largely empty until at least Kingsgate on weekends and the 236 rarely runs full. It still pisses me off though…

It appears that Lenovo is planning to drop the IBM name from the ThinkPad line entirely while continuing to market laptops under the ThinkPad name. Some are questioning whether the move to distance from the IBM name was made too soon, with several customers switching to HP and Dell mainly because they trusted the IBM name, not Lenovo. Lenovo’s attempts to bring a new look to the ThinkPad by introducing a titanium clad model also appears to have backfired, with many consumers not liking the design change. On the desktop end, the S series has been discontinued.

Here’s an easy solution to the DOT’s problem with the Montlake neighborhood: blow it up. Seriously Montlake has done nothing but delay the new 520 bridge and because of their lack of willingness to give up property, the entire area is congested. Montlake is a nice neighborhood and all but they seriously need to open their eyes and see just how much damn traffic there is! At the very least the DOT could go about condemning the property it needs and be done with it; of course since Montlake is rich they’ll have their lawyers on the DOT’s ass in seconds.

The only good part of the day so far? The bus ride to BCC, since I can sit back and watch people sit in traffic on 405.
