Hi Loyal Readers,
Nicole and I celebrated a significant anniversary on September 20th. We've been in Seattle one whole year! I can't believe it's been that long. Time has flown by! We have signed another lease, so we'll definitely be here at least through August 31, 2006. Then we'll take it from there. Moving to Seattle has been a great experience for me. It's been cool to see a new part of the country and meet new people and strike out on my own for the first time away from my family. It's been hard at times, but overall an awesome experience.
Nicole and I went to Portland, Oregon, last weekend to celebrate her birthday. It was a belated b-day trip. We took an Amtrak train from Seattle to Portland which took 3 1/2 hours. Once we arrived, we checked out the waterfront, the shopping district, and the Saturday market. Supposedly it's the biggest street market in the world. We also went to the Chinese gardens and Powell's Bookstore, which is the biggest independent bookstore in the world. Portland has a lot of the only things in the world. We also explored some of the neighborhoods- Pearl, Hawthorne, NE Broadway. We stayed overnight and then headed back out on the train. But not before we had some dim sum. It was a good trip. It's always good to explore somewhere new. I wasn't totally blown away by Portland because it's a pretty small city. Not as big as Seattle. Not that Seattle is all that big, anyway.
Our friends Maura and Jeff are moving away to Illinois. We work with Maura at CPC. Jeff got a job with the Ice Hogs hockey team, so Maura gave her notice and they depart the end of next week. We're so sad about it. But happy about Jeff's new job! We don't know a billion people here, so it's especially sad when we lose some of them.
This weekend we went to Regan's candle party and then I went out on a date with this guy named Dave. He's the spitting image of Jimmy Smitts from NYPD Blue. He's got that rugged masculinity thing going on. We went to an Irish pub and stayed til 2 AM. I guess we had a lot to talk about. I've learned not to get my hopes up when it comes to dudes, so I'm playing it cool. Things are totally over with California Alex. I just wrote him a scathing email, more for my benefit than for his. I guess you have to kiss a lot of frogs (or toads?) to find prince charming.
Desperate Housewives is back on tonight! So that's what I'll be doing. See ya later. Jenna :)
