PSA for the Carnivores

I was just over at Metropolitan Market at the top of Queen Anne. They're running a special today: buy one package of natural extra lean ground beef, get one free. I don't know if this is being offered at other MMs, but I figured that, at $4.99 per pound, people might want to know.

I'll be making a big pot of spaghetti sauce and meatballs tonight, some for dinner and some to freeze. It'll keep me warm and it'll keep my unemployed butt fed for a while. :-)

That's good planning and pls to be inviting me over for dinner! Joking, but I hope you enjoy your meal.

Protip: We like to buy meat in bulk, on sale and run it through our Kitchen Aid grinder attachment and then freeze into 1lb increments. It reduces our shopping trips, so we spend less money at the store and we always have meat in the freezer. Not now though, I was going through a meatless phase for awhile haha. Payday is tomorrow and maybe the husband will pickup some meat tomorrow :)

WOW, this isn't at all like anything you can find at hundreds of grocery stores anywhere in the city. Great find!

The animals? Why, I will. My cats love beef, especially when it's been cooked in tomato sauce.

More seriously, I've been to Africa, I've watched lions kill live prey. It's a sobering experience. Were I an animal--cow, pig, deer--I'd far prefer to be shot or have my neck broken in prep for becoming food than to have my throat torn out by a predator or my guts ripped out while I was still breathing.

If more people stopped demanding urban life we'd all have better food.
