Well this ends this particular era of my life. Today was my last day in the navy. At 0800 this morning the quarterdeck announced, "Damage Controlman second class surface warfare Tony Spielmaker...departing". Then walked along the two ranks of Engineers that came to see me off, as it snowed and the wind lashed across the brow. "Permission to go ashore", I asked. "Granted, go ashore" said the quarterdeck. Saluted the flag one last time and then turned to see all the faces that i've worked with, lived with, and i cryed at the top of my lungs, "VIVA!!! VIVAAAAAA!!!!"
Everyone clapped and cheered as i jumped off the brow and clicked my heels together, running down the pier into the snow.
i'm now free
and tomorrow i'll get on the road to travel back to michigan
maybe in the fall when i start school in Oregon i'll start a new journal and a new era
