You know what's really stupid? For Language Arts, we have to write a biography on a famous/influential Canadian. That's all well and good; I enjoy writing. The time period in which we were expected to produce 'quality work' (as my teacher calls it), however, was short to begin with; and last week came the announcement that the due date had been moved up a couple of days to give our teacher the time to grade all the essays before report cards.

Evidently, he realizes that work takes time; he doesn't seem to get that the same applies to students. So now I have to write my biography by this Wednesday. Rough drafts are due tomorrow, and I have... about two more hours to write a 4-5 page essay. (And I'm supposed to finish a Social skit script for tomorrow and all notes on Unit Three in Science for Wednesday... which will take at least three hours in all.)

On top of that, there's some sort of weird thing going on with the paragraphing- our teacher stated that he wants the essays to be 5 paragraphs long, but on our assignment sheet the requirement is 4-5 pages! How are you supposed to stretch five paragraphs into five pages and still come out with a coherent paper? Whenever I ask my LA teacher about this, hoping that he'll allow us a couple more paragraphs, he says something vague about 'good usage of transitional phrases'.

Um, sure. If you say so.
