Life has been quite exciting as of late.
Last Friday, Nic took me to see the Wolfman remake. It was absolutely WONDERFUL. It was pretty much exactly what I wanted. I loved, loved, loved it. I totally approved of the storyline changes, the awesome gore and the fantastic transformation and fight scenes. Del Toro's acting was very disappointing and the wolf makeup was at parts a bit goofy, but I can look past it. The backstory nod to Werewolf Of London and the very American Werewolf In London city scenes were the perfect touch. Definitely gets two thumbs up from me.
After the movie, we went out to dinner with Nic's drummer, Jim and then it was off to the show. It was my first time seeing his band, Shadows Sanctuary, and they blew me out of the water. (Seeing Nic be super sexy on stage didn't hurt, either!) Definitely a live band. They played with another local band, Zero Point, and an Iron Maiden tribute band called Run To The Hills. It was a ton of fun. If you are in the mood for some amazing trad/power/prog/gothy metal, please check them out -
http://www.myspace.com/shadowssanctuarymetalTheir EP comes out today, and I am so goddamned proud of them. They are working as hard as they can to really make it, and I think they have the stuff to make it happen. I offered my services as merch girl for their shows, and can't wait to help them with street team work.
Anyway, Saturday night they played again, but just them this time. Another great show. I have been out of the local metal scene for so long and it is so fun and refreshing to get back into it. I have been meeting all sorts of wonderful people and having a friggin' blast.
I have been spending a lot of time hanging out in New Hampshire with Nic and our now mutual friends. It is incredibly wonderful to be around people who share my interests and want to go out and have fun without getting trashed all the time. It's exactly what I need.
Job and school wise, things are looking good. North Shore is going to be a lot less expensive than I thought, much to me and my mother's surprise. Hopefully I can score some financial aid and it will be even more affordable. I cannot wait for the fall.
Tomorrow, I am going to a couple vet clinics in my town to see if they need any sort of help. One of the vets at Have A Heart (where my mum takes our kitties) told me to apply there and if there was nothing there for me, that she would pass on my application to all the other vets in the area. I applied at PetSmart as well, just in case. I'm basically looking for any sort of bitch labor or office work. I just want to start getting some serious experience working with and taking care of animals. Wish me luck!
