Title: Friendly Enemies Author: slaymesoftly Non-canon season three, fic Rating: PG AN: A sequel to last round's "P.S. You Suck" Banner by Double_Dutchess Beta by all4spike
I prefer my Cruciamentums without Joyce in danger! Thanks for that.
I liked so much about this. That Buffy still wins the day is key, but also that the Council is a bit more bald in their awfulness, and that Buffy is able to out-do them in intelligence gathering, the big jerks. And that Angel is so incredibly useless and line-toeing. I also really like that Spike, while not being okay with Buffy and Angel, is willing to let her work things out on her own timeline. I'm guessing she'll be less broken up about Angel leaving, since she's increasingly aware of his uselessness. I suspect he's going to pale in comparison with an actually helpful vamp, who happens to be an amazing kisser. *nods*
I think we can assume that at some future Seasonal Spuffy, Buffy will opt to spend her time (and kisses) with the vamp who is actually useful. :D. Thanks for reading, Reb.
Giles coming to his senses just in time and Joyce telling him off was awesome. It's always wonderful to have a soulless, evil (early seasons) Spike with all his badass attitude and his swagger but still helping Buffy and playing for the good side - even if it is only for Buffy's sake. I enjoyed this very much. Thank you for sharing it!
Love him warning her about the Cruciamentum. Maybe it'll keep Giles from coming off as her betrayer and losing a bit of her trust if she finds out first.
PS sorry to see the poof is back in your life. That can’t end well… LOL No kidding. He doesn't need Dru's sight to know that is a fact.
“Ya know, if Giles or Xander, or even Willow, was with me, they would’ve helped without being asked. You know that, right? Even S-somebody else would have at least warned me they were there.” Seems she's subconsciously listening a bit or at least noticing

Thank you, Kathleen. As usual, your detailed and lovely comments put my normal "love this!" reviews to shame. LOL. I'm glad it worked for you. I'm sure I'm being a bit unkind to Angel, but in reality, he often didn't step in when he could have, so I've chosen to make him more "must do things the old way" than he perhaps was in canon. I've done that in most of my fics that involve Buffy's Cruciamentum, actually, because I think it's a big failure on his part not to have stepped in if he couldn't bring himself to warn her.
And yes, Spike has been acting like a friend, whether he realizes it or not, including taking himself out of her life to give her time to sort out her feelings. But at least he was honest with her about how he feels now.
