Thank you! I definitely left it open to possible continuation and, while there are other projects that are currently more pressing, I'd like to come back to it as some point if I can. :)

Aw - great way to use both themes! And so true to who they were then. Good job!

Buffy has a sharp mind, so I'm not surprised that she caught the bit about Spike's reminiscences of their earlier encounters, etc. I'll bet that she eventually notices that all of his protestations didn't actually amount to denying anything. Deflection, yes. Denial, no.

For some reason, my favorite bits were the crossed-out ones. Hee! And I'm pleased that she recognizes that the engagement wasn't all bad, even now.

Nice work, love.

Very good point, I think Spike is much better at deflection than denial. Any time he tries to flat out deny something ("a date? please") he winds up sounding extremely unconvincing. But if he can get the other person so angry that they don't think about what he's said...

And yes, the crossed out parts are probably the most fun cause, particularly for Buffy, that's where she realizes she's gotten a bit too vulnerable and pulls back. You can thank thenewbuzwuzz for that idea!

Thanks so much for the lovely comment! :)

Was he trying to get her angry so that she wouldn't press any further?

Yes, absolutely.

Oh, I'd definitely like to read more of this, if you ever feel like getting back to it ;) sounded exactly like the original characters, and I love how you explained the presence of all their love even when it wasn't exactly mentioned in the spell. I know Spuffy fans usually read that they were already starting to love each other in that, but I've never believed that to be any more than wishful thinking lol.
In any case, fun read, thanks for sharing!!

Hah, yeah I was actually surprised when buzwuzz pointed out that Buffy actually did say she loved Spike during the spell. But the theory I'm working with here is that, outside of the spell, Buffy isn't anywhere close to loving Spike, yet. While Spike, on the other hand, isn't ready to admit that he's falling in love with Buffy.

I certainly might continue this one, I do have some ideas. But if it does happen it probably won't be anytime soon, so I'm calling this a one-shot for now! Happy to hear that you enjoyed it and it felt in character to you!

Yeah, she does say that she loves him - right when she says that she "doesn't even like him", which to me goes A LONG way in showing how that love was completely constructed by the spell. I never really thought that Spike was already falling in love with her either, but things are certainly in motion inside him already, or Dru wouldn't have dumped him.
Anyway! If you ever come back to this I'll be more than happy to read more! And in any case, thanks again for sharing :)
