You're right, I've never read a story with Betta George either. But I adore the character, so I had to put him in! Glad you appreciated his presence, I'm not sure how many of the Spuffy lovers even know about his existence haha!

This story is, ultimately, my attempt to portray Spike's inner turmoil and insecurities, and force him to deal with them too. I'm super happy that it shows! Expect more of his inner voice ranting/self-doubting/waxing (bad) poetics ;) as for his demonic instincts, I think that they are a fascinating part of his character and I was happy to explore that here (honestly, it was COMPLETELY unexpected, but so, so welcome!). But I wanted to explore his reaction to his own instincts, his revulsion at them, rather than the possibility that he could actually lose control of himself... we'll see if I'll get to that too, though, you've given me something to think about!
