Canon was never an obstacle, but I've got to say it seems novel that even the CANON Spuffy almost don't care if they're supposed to be in a relationship or not. On the other hand, wait. When have they ever cared! :D Spike/Betty from "Superstar" comes to mind, as well as "School Hard" and judging each other's dates in "Harsh Light of Day", was it? Canon can't even keep them apart in canon, never mind fic. *g*

Thanks Miss Kitty! S12 is far from perfect, and there's lots of stuff to fix (like Buffy and Spike breaking up in the first place) but as I see it, the above really is just a summary of their current canon relationship status.

Absolutely! I think the writers had to break them up or the sales of the new comic book would have been cut in half. There is no sense in continuing to read, if you already know how it ends. If the comics had continued with Dark Horse, they would have brought them back together and broken them up at least a dozen times because it just makes a better story.
