Has it occurred to you that maybe I wanna keep my life as normal as possible? And I’m fully aware of the irony that normal for me means slaying demons. I… I can’t control what happens to my body anymore. I didn’t get a choice”-Buffy slashes her hand through the air-“but I’m in charge of what I do and how I do it. And I’m not gonna sit back and play happy homemaker. Not doing my job isn’t gonna keep the Key safe.”

"sighs" Not only being the Slayer is ruining her life but now she's pregnant and Glory is threatening her. Things aren't looking good.. so I guess it's time to visit Spike.

That her boyfriend left town for a job and not because he was freaked out by the baby that came out of nowhere and is most definitely not his.

Ah, I was wondering what happened to Riley, and thinking that running out on pregnant Buffy would be worse than running out on Mom-just-had-a-brain-tumor-removed Buffy, especially if he thought he'd gotten her pregnant. As it is, it's rather a Virgin Mary type deal, lol, though I'm curious how they knew the baby wasn't Riley's.

Hee! That's the sort of exposition I fastforwarded through. Some crazy person saw Buffy and starting talking about green energy, then the pregnancy and the wacky-wacky of figuring out it wasn't Riley's (since it's so early on, probably a Willow and Tara spell since DNA tests aren't really a safe option then, I believe). Or Buffy knows because of a Slayer dream that the baby is the Key.

Or... Buffy hadn't been sleeping with Riley while he'd been away over the summer back in Iowa, so he couldn't be the father. I kinda tweaked the timeline so that she'd get pregnant before Dracula vs. Buffy so she'd come to term a bit sooner.

But mostly, I just handwaved Riley off. He had issues with Buffy's issues and she freaked out, so Riley probably freaked out, too.

:p

I'm back, and I've read all the chapters but the last one - I couldn't bring myself to read it in public place, I's sure that I'll be bawling like a baby.

I really, really love how you write Buffy as a warrior even when she is pregnant. I can't but recall the scene of pregnant Darla fighting Angel.

Thank you, sweetie! Yes, yes, Buffy's always a warrior--pregnancy wouldn't stop her. And you're so right, just like Darla, though I hadn't thought of it until you mentioned it.

Ooh, I'm enjoying this! Love how you are placing Buffy in a loving family context; where Spike, Joyce and Giles all see the same problems, even if they have somewhat different solutions.
