If people will stop holding meetings and dropping bombshells at work, I'll have this done today. If not, I'll post the ending on the free day, July 1.

The next chapter will be up on my afternoon break.

Sally said Harriet had always had everything she wanted. But she doesn't seem to have wanted designer clothes or an expensive car.

Nods. Most gardeners would rather have the latest plant than a fancy car.

Buffy is really getting into detective mode here, now all she needs is a platinum haired Watson.

I'm a lackadaisical gardener and even I would pick the ability to raise really luscious crops of tomatoes over the chance of owning a fancy ride.

After all[,] Buffy would kill a dozen demons to get out of mopping a floor.

Made me smile SO much!

And the bit about the 'plumber's crack' being displayed by the locksmith/handyman? Delightful.

Well, who wouldn't?

I'm enjoying this look at Buffy's turn as an investigator. You've got the intriguing cast of suspects lined up, the mysterious disappearing body. The Trouble with Harry is one of my favorite Hitchcock movies. :) Buffy's natural paranoia should serve her well.

Spike being charming is always a pleasure. :) I suspect the culprit is amateurish enough that our two junior sleuths can figure it out while having a lot of fun (and sex!) along the way. :)

Thanks. I'm always annoyed when I describe "Trouble with Harry" and someone says, "Oh, so it's just like 'Weekend at Bernie's'?"

I like the way you're writing detective!Buffy. Her observations re: cleaning the kitchen are spot on, and make me want to go mop my floor. This may just be the guilt talking!

Vivid characters too. The sticky-fingered maid and the locksmith are both fully-fledged characters in their brief appearances. Really enjoying this!

That's funny, because I was using writing that as an excuse to procrastinate about mopping the floor!

Thanks!
