Loved the talk about sex with the slayer at the beginning, and the development of the Spuffy relationship as the chapter progressed! It's a nonstop whirlwind of a ride and Buffy and Spike move from hatred to annoyance to lust to the inevitable sex...and now a soul? What a twist!

Aaaand the fic continues to delight! A few points...

"You know who Sartre was?" Giles said, impressed.
She snorted. "Why does everyone say that? I did very well on my SATs."
This had me laughing. Perfect, perfect moment.

Also the whole thing about The Prince of Lies also cracked me up. Absolutely inspired! *applauds*

And then you go and get all insightful:

She had stopped hating them long ago. A lumber-man doesn't hate trees, a cleaner doesn't hate garbage. Killing them was her job - nothing more, nothing less.
I can see this so clearly, particularly with this lonely Buffy.

And this part was incredibly moving, esp the Kendra and Faith parts:

Mom and Dad, and Merrick, and that nameless guy in the psychiatric ward who almost believed her when she told him that monsters did exist, and those slayers-in-training - Kendra, so annoying when alive and so sad when dead, and Faith, who distracted that demon from Buffy and fell down, impaled, and asked Buffy to kiss her before she died...Love that you show how she's become so closed off

Actually, this bit was written by a2zmom. My Buffy/Angel scene is very irreverential, and I was afraid that B/A shippers may find it insulting. (Not that I think that they'd read a Spuffy fic, but, just in case). So I asked her to read it to make sure that it doesn't sound like bashing. She has read all the story and found it funny and inoffensive. She also gave me a couple of ideas re: Cordelia. This one was so funny I used it verbatim.

Love that you show how she's become so closed off, and that you've done it so simply, which I think it what makes it work.

Recently I found myself in love with the idea of Buffy/Faith... I &heart; them so much.
