Fanmix: Mixtape for Buffy's 21st by Quinara

Hello again! Er, this is a random extra far less serious that the fic I posted earlier. You know all those stories where Spike ends up making Buffy a mixtape for some reason? Well, it's a fun bit of fanon and I like it, but I always wondered what would be on such a tape - being a fan of 70s punk myself (including its relatives on the music ( Read more... )

Great idea! I could see him tossing in some Stooges (I Wanna Be Your Dog) or Television (Friction)too.

Punk bands don't tend to be about the ~romance~ too much, hey ;) Unless you count Green Day's adolescent years - which, bahaha.
Also, I can't believe I just came across someone who *doesn't* like The Clash. Weird.
And I'm LOL-ing at Buffy's probable reaction to this mix. Eheheh.

We shall not talk about Green Day... :D Of course, there are plenty of songs that describe Spike's situation and how he might feel about it, so he'd probably have a lot to listen to - but none of them seemed the sort of thing he would actually let Buffy know he was thinking!

And that's bogwitch for you! Bloody contrary... ;)

HEE! Yes, Buffy's reaction would probably be... Interesting. (Unless she never listened to it until after Chosen, in true angst!fic form - then it would just be sad. :( )

You KNOW Spike made this mixtape. I'm just amazed that it took this long for us to find it! Probably buried in the debris on the floor of the bottom of the DeSoto (or at the bottom of Buffy's "Go Bag" from "Chosen" *sob*).

He's convinced she likes it really.
That's my Spike. *sign*

It was definitely lost somewhere, only to be refound again - maybe Clem had it after he took over the crypt? (Though I can imagine it in the DeSoto... Or in Buffy's bag!)

You could pretty much swap the 'it' for 'him' in that sentence... :D Oh, our hopeful vampire...

Thanks so much for posting this! I know that I have heard 'Start!' by The Jam before, because I recognized it when I played your mix, but I could not have told you the title or artist before, and now I own it! The other songs are also very interesting, but thanks especially for that one, because it filled in one of the small holes in my musical knowledge.

It was my pleasure! The Jam have loads of great tracks - usually with a slightly more normal-rock edge than your more noise-like punk bands, so I'd definitely recommend looking up more of their music if you like it! :D
