This *is* a great premise. And the idea of Buffy playing chess to get past a Hell god is a riot. Looking forward to more.

Thanks. Originally, I'd written strip-poker, not chess, but then I decided there was no way strip-poker could be boring, so I changed it.

I've always pictured Hell as something like the DMV

Really? That's pleasing. Of course, being a Brit, I have no real idea what the DMV is like but when Americans mention it, it's usually in such a way as to make it sound pretty awful. And then of course Marge Simpson's sisters work there, don't they, so that probably tells you all you need to know.

If I'd be trying to think of a Brit equivalent, I might have gone for Outpatients at a hospital or - more likely - the jobcentre.

When I've had the misfortune of going to the DMV, it's a pit of despair with bright orange plastic chairs.

That does sound grim! Glad I managed to capture the atmosphere. And am very flattered indeed that you thought I was American. Am always afraid that my writing shrieks Brit! at the top of its lungs (if it had them).

Also, I did of course have an American beta, which helps enormously.
