we fly our kites at night: terrible. just made me sad that they were opening for ed gein and somehow i am columbine isnt. last song had a riff that sounded like orchid without the chunkiness.

blues for the martyrs: didnt live up to the hype. some good guitar work. no vocal presence. drums not even comparable to botch. it made me sick when people were comparing them to converge, dillinger, and botch during their set.

dear rosemary: insanely good. showed up the other three local openers. long brooding metal in the vein of isis, mastodon, and converge. dual vocalists. i was talking to one of the singers and it turns out that none other than the man Matt Bayles is going to be mixing their demo. SCORE!

abishai: they brought the noise. bassist did double duty as guitarist of dear rosemary. all around a solid set but again the fucking sound people dont know how to turn up the vocals so you can hear them over the guitars. would have been a lot better if they would have done that.

plot to blow up the eiffel tower: "one of the few dancy fag bands that doesnt suck." thats a direct quote from the man, the myth, the legend, sean "caracas" valenzuela. that pretty much sums them up properly. i enjoyed the singers makeout session with the guitarist of breather resist.

ed gein: this band absolutely slayed. amazing everything. three piece grind with many breakdown teases. it was an amazing set minus the fucking douches in some of the two first opening bands trying to be clever and then tough. i showed em whats up though. me sean and sean were seriously the only ones just fucking headbanging the majority of the time. all our necks are sore. they played one encore and it just added to the amazingness of their somewhat short set.

breather resist: they set up literally a wall of amps. 5 heads for a bass and a guitar. two of the amps turned out to be big ass spotlights though. we only got to see one of their songs before we reluctantly had to leave for fear of having to stay for the entire set. our ride, the amazing and wonderful kimberly bruder, had to be home and we had already stayed too long as it was.

all in all. a show that im very happy to have attended. got an ed gein shirt and a dear rosemary shirt. yeah!

and to close i think ill copy and paste directly from a bulletin financial panther posted after the election results. i think all you people should take this to heart. theres still a huge battle to be fought.

Yeah right, not one of you crazy, college going crackers are moving anywhere(and neither am I). You're all staying right here in the U.S. of A. because you're all caught in the American dream. Now either lick your fucking wounds, get back up and prepare for the fights ahead or be a little baby who only complains at the bars and coffee shops. Abortion, destroying the Patriot Act, Immigrant rights, gay rights and stopping the war are things that we must still fight for. The next four years are going to be crazy and we've got to keep the fight alive. It's the 60's all over again!
