Hahaha. It's been rather interesting. When it was announced we were leaving, there was a very noticeable shift in the personalities and mannerisms of several of the other soldiers. Some became very excited, others began to panic or complain. Some who had never talked found their voices, where others fell silent. Is it because they realize they ( Read more... )

I was like you, once. But you realize that no matter how much we fight, no matter how much blood we spill, this war will never end?

So, knowing that, why do you continue to fight?

As it stands right now, war is an unfortunate inevitability of mankind - a sin that seeps through the ages and decays history as it travels; a plan by which humanity, if undeterred, will ultimately meet its end. Even if it were to be stopped right now, it will, almost certainly, resume again in another shape or another form. What is required, then... is a deterrent. A change. Something to stop the course.

I do not fight to end this war. I fight because it is my duty. I must protect what needs to be protected: those who bear the future - the deterrents of war in its entirety.

[ ooc: 9_6 Whoa. I just reread that like 5 times and I don't know if it makes any sense anymore. Kaworu you're so ... out there, man.]

Violence is in human nature. Nothing will ever change. War and conflict will never end because that is what humanity desires.

Duty? Who told you it was your "duty"? If this is what you do because the desire to protect those is something you feel in your heart... then it is your will.

Ah, perhaps so. Perhaps there is no deterrent to such a thing. I want to allow them the ability to make such decisions themselves, though.

...My will...?

... ...What do you do when your duty and your will conflict one another?

...I decided to follow my "heart." And my heart is sick of senseless slaughter. I want to feel that transient moment when one's fate hangs between life and death, and I can only feel that when I battle a truly worthy foe. But there is only one man who could ever best me in battle...

He is the same man that awakened unto me "freewill." Until I met him, I was worse off than you. I had no thoughts to call my own, no will, nothing. Only my duty.
