Oooooo, pretty colors!

So this week has been pretty busy. It definitely takes me a long time to get to classes and stuff with crutches. As of yesterday, I've stopped using my crutches so that I won't fall and injure myself further. I should still be using them so I can rest my ankle more, but it's been raining and it's just so slick on some of the paths and tiled floors in the buildings that I've nearly killed myself a number of times. So, I just limp my way to classes and work everyday. At least I make it there in one piece . . . My ankle is still pretty swollen and it's started turning really pretty colors: blue, purple, red, green, yellow. Right now, my ace bandage and ice pack are my best friends.

Getting my X-rays was quite the hassle. I was supposed to get a call that afternoon that I had them taken, but they didn't call me, so I called them. They told me that my X-rays had been sent to a hospital in Dansville and that I would get called in the morning. Yet, they still hadn't called me in the morning, so when I called them again, they told me they had faxed the results to Lauderdale, the Health Center on campus. Ugh! So, I called up Lauderdale and they said they didn't have it. OMG!!! I HATE HEALTH CARE PEOPLE!! Sorry to my future pharmacy friends out there, but the health care industry is soooo disorganized! It's ridiculous! But, when my X-rays were magically found in Lauderdale, I found out that my ankle was not broken, so at least there's some good news in all of this.

Other than that, my work load has been insane: sooo much reading for every class, papers have started being due, etc. My calligraphy is suffering a little bit because I don't have a ton of time to practice it every day like my professor wants us too. We have a test on the first alphabet we've learned (Roman) next week, and a critique for our Roman plate. The final version of our Roman plate is due a week from Tuesday. So I definitely have my work cut out for me there too. :/

Despite all the work, I really love the English class I'm taking this semester. It's ENGL 390, a study of visibility and invisibilty in 20th century American Lit. It is pretty intimidating, but I've really come to enjoy and look forward to this class, it is soooo interesting. I have loved everything we've read so far and the professor is great! Lots of work to be an English major, but I'm loving being an English major!

Last night was sooooooo much fun. First, I went to the IVCF Milkshake Party in my friend Desiree's townhouse. It was a great time to hang out with all the IV'ers, meet new members, and just fellowship together. I love those people so much, they're all amazing individuals! After the Milkshake Party, I went to the a capella concert, which was also fantastic. NARD opened and were hysterically amusing, but also sang great as usual. They revamped some old favorites and added some new ones to their repertoire. The other 3 a capella groups also sang very well along with NARD, considering they didn't have very much time to prepare for this concert. The concert was to raise money for the Red Cross relief efforts in New Orleans and we managed to raise $1600 in those 3 hours!!! Good job to everyone involved!!

After the concert, I spent the night in Emily, Jasmine, Tracy, Elyse, Marie and Caroline's suite over on Northside. It was so much fun and it was so nice to be able to catch up with them. Nolan, Don, Lanigan, Chris, and some others' friends from home were also there. We all crammed into the common room and watched Crash. This movie was just spectacular! I can't even describe it very well, it was so well made, a beautifully complex plot. It was intense, but just downright amazing. I highly recommend everyone see this! Good call on this movie Jasmine!

Today, after I went to brunch with the Northside Gang, I had my pool grudge match with Matt which was hysterical. We have gotten so bad since last semester that we just couldn't stop laughing at the horrible shots we were making. Our fellow Union employees also found it pretty amusing. I think we made more triple combo shots than we made with just straight shots. Needless to say, it was a good time. At least we managed to provide some quality entertainment for our co-workers . . . Matt and I also managed to make some evil plans to put into action against Renee, my stalker of a Union manager. Our plan is going to be very funny, and it may just prove to give us some fantastic blackmail photos.

The rest of my weekend is also pretty busy. I'm going to be doing lots of homework and calligraphy in the next few days. But, I'm also going to fit in some good stuff! Tonight, I think I'm going to see Batman Begins in the quad. Tomorrow morning will be the first morning I'll be able to go to church with the gang at Calvary Chapel. Then tomorrow night, we're having our first small group Niagara bible study, "Wisdom for Dummies". I can't wait!!

OK, so enough rambling for now. Sorry this entry is a little on the long side, I will try to do better, but no guarantees . . .
