As I am doing research on breweries I came across these ads. I posted them on my vintage ad community but though y'all might find them entertaining as well.
...believe it or not, PBR used to be the high end stuff. They, along with Schlitz and A-B survived Prohibition by selling malt for cooking (do you really want your bread to taste like hops? yeah, I didn't think so). In order to not be breaking the law by selling something that could be used to make alcohol, the companies printed these pretty elaborate cook books. Yes, some of the recipes might be good, but cooking with malt is not the same as with beer.
